Sony is looking into building a factory in China. They do have their own manfucturing plants now though anyways. Just because they don't have a factory owned or ran by them in China, doesn't mean they down have any. |
A foreign company can't build a factory in China. They can enter a joint venture with a Chinese company, and yes, Sony does this as do other companies. But still most stuff just gets contracted. It works out better for everybody.
Besides, being an OEM doesn't mean you can make stuff cheaper, efficiently or better. Why spend all the effort and money when the Chinese government is going to own most of it anyways. It's better to focus on what you do best, design and market products.
Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

So, the Sony manufacturing plant up the road from my mothers house...that doesn't actually exist then? (not to mention the other Sony manufacturing sites in Europe(and the rest of the world))
Hint: my mother is not Chinese, nor lives in China
... (edit wrong thread)
Well the tablet itself looks interesting, I am still not entirely convinced about the need for a table, I will probably end up buying this one...
I just don't feel the need for anything between my android and laptop, or between my future NPG and PS3
you saying 3D tv's are going to fall apart is false, all new tvs from an future point in time will all have 3D capabilites just like HD when that came in and remember that. everyone was like whats the point paying all that money just for HD. you cant buy an new tv not HD in most stores.
But back on topic. Its interesting about this q music thing because right now q music is point less since it seems you cant have it on your portable devices without contant internet access. So this tablet might work.
Right now i have no intention on buying an laptop for uni. since its an tech uni and there are computers every where to use but an table might be good to have on lectures with all your lecture notes all there on the tablet. the ability to record the lecture and type notes all without having to carry notes and books and shuffle though them on such small tables they give you.
Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

All future TVs having 3D? They can't even agree what kind of 3D they want to implement. Everyone started with active tech but now manufacturers are switching to passive...none of which can do true 1080p@60 frames. Then glasseles 3D will come out in a few years and jack up the price again. No one will want to buy 3DTV with glasses if glassesless 3D tech exists so there is no point in making current 3D the standard.
The bottom line is, Samsung sold 2 million 3D TVs in 2010 which is most out of anyone, you can imagine howmuch the rest sold. The tech just isn't selling well (due to lack of great 3D content mostly) and won't become standard for many years to come...

i am telling you 3D is here to stay. Stuff like this isn't going to go away. you say the cost is the main factor. Well Plasmas were $15,000 when they first came out and massive. Then over time they got cheaper and cheaper.
Reports indicate that the prices will drop to affordable mainstream levels by 2012-14 period were the content will grow the biggest.

I understand what you are telling me... and I am agreeing that 3D is here to stay. I've been gaming in 3D since 2008...way before Samsung and Sony said I should be doing it. PC 3D gaming has been relevant since late 90s. That 3D market will never go away.
But the 3D you speak of is just a watered down cash grab by the TV manufacturers at this point. It is inferior to older 3D methods(720p for gaming and image ghosting), it lacks content to attract the mass public and will reach saturation point (if it hasn't already) way before it becomes "afordable".
Even now, 3D isn't that expensive. People who are buying a a TV shouldn't have problems spending 200-300 more to get a similar 3D TV. But the masses don't care about it and don't want it. People who do care about 3D are laughing at these TVs as they know they can get a 100 inch projector setup in 3D for a 1000 dollars which rapes any 3D TV to date.
Setup like this, which is what im using right now for 3D...cost me about 1200 dollars with the 1.8 gain highly reflective screen and 2 pairs of DLP link 3D glasses.
