Overall:  8.5

This sums up the gripes:

"Where's Spectator Mode? Alternate victory conditions? Time Attack Mode? The ability to change costume colors, freeing you from the four that are preset? Crazy, unexpected bonus games? Extra stages? Behind-the-scenes footage? Survival Mode?"

That, and the loss of about 20 chars, which should've been expected for this gen.

Compared to SSFIV, they were a bit hard on it seeing as SSFIV doesn't have some of those features. It actually LOST features that were in SFIV:  the Survival and Time Attack modes.

I'm wondering:  how'd IGN fail to mention the fact that you can't do vs. mode against cpu?

I'm also a little pissed that Capcom made Jill and Shuma DLC when they're already ready for the game. Riduculous shit.

I love SSFIV and hopefully I'll be able to get into MvC3 but for serious, f*** you Capcom......I say this because I know damn well that they could do better but seem to have developed a fetish for DLC costumes, rather than adding actual new gamemodes/chars and doing proper balance updates. Little shit like removing those two game modes from SSFIV are part of what get to me. The lack of spectator mode could end up hurting the more competitive players in the long run.

Anyways, day 1 buy (tomorrow!). That doesn't make me hate Capcom any less though....

I think its silly that the reviewer is bashing the game cuz it has no Time Attack and Survival mode. If you're a serious fighting game player all you need is Practice Mode, Versus Mode, Online Versus Mode and Arcade Mode.

The last time I touched Time Attack mode was like in Tekken 3. And thats like more than 10 years ago.

I havent explored the online features of the game yet (I had it since yesterday), but if they take out the view online matches mode that was in SSF4 then that is quite a bummer.

Anyway I bet the reviewer is a  casual fighting game fan who plays fighting games for the Beach Volleyball or Bowling mode or something.

I keep seeing bitch about the reduced roster but how many people that played McV2 played all 58 characters?

When I see videos or talked to people that use to play it it's generally the same few characters that get used over and over again.  So why do we need 58 characters again?

Peronsally, I'm happy with a balanced roster and losing characters like Strider that are beyond obscure for newer, fresher characters.

No survival mode..

TvC had a survival mode.. Wii does what HD consoles can't?

Also, I do agree that the sprites of MvC2 looked better than MvC3's models.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I think it's fairly obvious Capcom's holding out for a Super Marvel vs. Capcom 3 next year, which will be the complete package.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

The old sprites looked great... before HD TVs. Basically you now have the option of pixelated or blurry mess.

I think you're accustomed to the old models.  For example, I didn't like SF4's presentation at first, but its really grown on me and I find the classic SF games really bland in comparison.

All the various modes add a lot to experience for people who aren't die-hard fightning game fans.
