As long as Sakura dies, i am okay with the anime. That is all.

Yes, they definitely did. 

I recall Kakashi giving them crap for being friendly.

Also, I'm not always a fan of the fillers but the arc that preceded the Hidan/Kakauzu arc did a good job by featuring Asuma quite a bit ( I think that the anime writers noticed that Asuma wasn't in the manga enough).

Well the sharingan is supposed to be more powerful than regular genjutsu if I'm not mistaken.

Also, I agree with you about Sakura dying.  What an annoying character she is.

The sharingan is used to see the genjutsu and maybe counter it, however Itachi was supposedly better than her at genjutsu. They were just trying to make Itachi look like a bad ass that episode. I just think he should have beaten her another way, not by her own specialty though.....thats like someone else creating more clones than naruto lol.

This, mostly. Given my fandom of Other M, i don't like to pitch the sexist card that easily, but when one of your few strong female characters is reduced to strictly "the pregnant chick," losing all of her badassery in the process, i would think that calls for ruination

When was she ever Badass?

She's only ever used one Justu... and it doesn't work half the time she uses it.

She was about as Badass as Sakura or Ino.

She never really gave off a badass vibe, or a "I'm dangerous" vibe.

She was consistantly portrayed as the weakest Jonin group leader by far who's only strongpoint was that she was the best at the least utilized kind of Jutsu in the series.

Having a kid basically was a natural development for her character and personality.

Now if this was Anko on the otherhand... i'd see your problem.
