Forums - General - When is the best time to follow up after submitting a job application?

And does it being a weekend/weekday matter? I want a job but I'm pretty nervous to follow up after waiting a week... I hate the fact I'm so shy, lol.

I've heard its good to contact them though so that you're not just some dot on a screen and they know that you're interested.

Did they say they would contact you? I know a lot of places specify that if you haven't heard back by X days then to assume your application hasn't been successful. Also, did they give a deadline for applying? Some places won't call anyone for interview until they have all the applicants in.

Anyway, I'd give it a little longer before calling them... and make sure you call during office hours (Mon-Fri, 9-5 usually, but some places may have different working hours so check). It may actually work against you if you call (and possibly annoy) someone during their personal time.

This.

I hear a week.  I dunno though.  Most of the jobs I apply for specifically say "don't call us we'll call you."

I know I'd dislike it if someone called me.
