Forums - Sales - For older titles, are final VGC numbers shipped?

For example, we have Final Fantasy VII at 9.72 million.

If Square shipped 9.85 million copies, would the numbers after 7 years be 9.85m from shipment, or would it remain at 9.72m where sales tracking merely ended due to time?

It would be 9.72, though it gets a bit messy for older games like this.  We've basically got to take it on a game-by-game basis depending on what information is available (for instance, press releases and sales data from old magazines) and if those numbers are shipped than we basically need to make an educated guess in cases like this.
