sony lost billions with the ps3 but will gain billions with blu-ray and the ps3 was a very important factor in that win so it's not as bad as it seams

did you quote your own post :D

and yes sony have positioned themselves well because blu Ray is rising and because of PS3 they are the biggest produces of Blu ray products and disk they will be able to come in cheaper (because of constantly trying to reduce costs with ps3) and quicker (bigger mau power) so all the customers (publishers, studios) will continue to flock to them for mass production.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

I edited and it quoted at the same time I think

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

if we consider blu-ray's victory, was sony's loss worth it?

Which console has lost the most money for the company?

How many people think PS3 or 360 can eventually profit?

I am not sure if 360 is still in the red, but I do not know where to find this stuff out.

Overall the PS3 is still in the RED. The XBox 360 got out of the RED in the Spring of last year. The XBox 360 has been making a profit for almost 3 yrs now. M$ was still in the red though for awhile before last year. The PS3 just started to become profitable early last year. Even after the PS3 Slim launched, it was still losing money for about 6 months.

'gaming till I'm gone'

I'm a die hard XBox fan but would never imagine anything of this world toppling the massive losses the original XBox had. If any company outside of Microsoft ran the original XBox they would have declared bankrupcy within the first year or two of releasing it.

It's just that simple.

That is a very interesting question but since we don't know how much of blu rays sucess was due to ps3 or how many blu ray frequenters only have a ps3 as a player so we don't have the data needed to determine that objective and we never will, also it's worth mentioning that ps3 is helping Sony sell HD and 3D tvs well not so much HD anymore but at the start of the gen it was, and their 3D tv push would have failed horribly without the ps3 so factor that in too, yeah it's pretty impossible

Sony's consumer device unit hasn't been doing that great and the motion pictures unit hasn't been much of a money maker either, so it's not like blu-ray is a big cash cow or you would see these divisions doing much better.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Blu ray has nothing to do with the gaming division

Then tell that to the people who posted above.

I meant finnacially, as in their not the division that gets the profits even if they cause the sales
