Microsoft has announced that they have had their best sales ever over the last quarter in Australia on the heels of the Kinect controller that is new for the XBOX 360. The Kinect is the new hands free controller and new technology that is available for the XBOX 360 console and according to Microsoft officials seen a 20 percent increase in total sales globally as compared to last year.

The XBOX 360 grew over 50 percent in sales as compared to last year and with the help of the Kinect seen the highest gross in sales of Microsoft in Australia in any quarter of the year in history. Microsoft went on to say that they were able to sell 8 million units of the Kinect for the XBOX 360 and that was done in the first 60 days after it was released.

According to David McLean, the general manager of Microsoft's XBOX division in Australia and New Zealand, the Kinect was no doubt the catalyst that was repsonsible for the high sales Down Under.

Misleading title is misleading

Still, that's good sales for the 360, and of course Kinect has been the "catalyst" for this. After all, Kinect has been more successful than I think even Microsoft imagined!

Good news. They'll probably break that records again at the end of the year.Especially if Kinect gets a price cut like most analyst are thinking.

360: 332k (20.7%)
PS3: 424k (26.5%)
Wii: ???k (< 26.5%)

Now waiting something from Nintendo.

Its pretty sad. But I do enjoy reading the good 360/kinect news. It seems like kinect has really given the 360 a food boost in its later life. If they can get some more killer apps for different genres i think it can do even more.
