Question for the mafia: was Republic killed because he was a replacement, so you guys thought he was more likely to be a power role?

On an unrelated note, I give myself a ton of credit for marking 2 of the 3 scum on Day One.  I then deduct every last one of those points for lynching the one I got wrong... sorry wonk!

Well you got tired of day one. I wanted it to end too just not that way :P

I want to apologise to Wonk too, for reacting badly to the situation on Day 1.

Well I was saying you should die for playing poorly in past games.  Plus you weren't actualy part of the badwagon.

That Day 1 was almost unbearable xD At least I managed to avoid saying anything too controversial that time.

I agreed for one reason instead of prof and that was because he and trash were the first people against me at the time. One he died I could go

For him being the only one completely right day one!

1) trash had to be the cop. If she was faking it, then a counterclaim from you or radish would've meant a town win either today or tomorrow guaranteed.

2) It's funny that you don't want to play follow the cop, but you doubt a setup that would penalize that type of play.

3) For future reference, when is the right time to truthfully claim Miller?

4) I opposed ABC claiming day one, because it really wouldn't have been the best thing if he were town. It just so happens he was horrible scum.

5) I chose not to kill trash because that is absolutely the last thing I would've wanted as scum. Keeping the cop alive risks scanning more players innocent, and if I hadn't correctly guessed she would scan Heph then there would be two "confirmed" townies tomorrow and me at best. I already denied the chance there'd be a godfather on top of a miller.

6) And yes, there was absolutely no way there could be 4 scum, simply by virtue of a quicklynch would've occured day two.

1) Not automatically; we've had games where there were few power roles, and a no-cop game is quite plausible.  The last two games have actually skipped at least one of the "required" roles, after all.  I don't feel comfortable assuming roles, since doing so has bitten me in the past, but I do know that...

2) There is a limited system in how roles must work.  If there is a Miller, there's almost certainly a cop.  Essentially, that post was your undoing, at least in my mind.  It was a gamble, but a very, very small one.  I may not want to play Follow The Cop, but that doesn't mean I ignore how they work!

3) The best time to claim Miller? Beats me, but I think it's very situation-dependent.  This is only the second time I've read the claim, and both times it's lead to the claimant's lynch.  It may generally be a death-sentence.  In any case, it stuck out like a sore thumb when you made it, at least in my mind: apparently though, most disagreed.

4) I still disagree.  Unchallenged roleclaims, especially ones that aren't prompted by any need, can fester and hinder the town for days.  Unnecessary roleclaiming is bad, but unchallenged unnecessary roleclaims are far, far worst; this game and the last game provide good examples.

5) I don't follow. Trash wasn't going to scan you: there was no point.  If trash hadn't scanned heph, it would literally be game over right then and there, since there are two suspects and two lynch opportunities.  Even when she scanned heph, it left 2/5 cleared, so each of the unconfirmed townies could do what I did, and risk a mislynch anyways.  I think not killing trash hamstrung you too badly to recover from.

6) Don't be too quick to assume that: trash's first game is the prime counter-example!

1&6) Yes, I understand it's possible there wouldn't have been a cop this round. But once ABC flipped scum, it would've meant both trash and I had to be lying, and then if there were 4 scum, we'd have won day two when FF/you voted prof or when Heph voted you. I can understand a game being setup badly with too many mafia, but are you saying that mafia once missed a win opportunity?

2&3) Yes it was a gamble on my part. I was hopeful that it would've been bought, because logically I could've taken out the cop before being scanned. You weren't the only one, Heph also jumped against it. prof and trash didn't mind it too much, and radish seemed indifferent.

4) I see your point, but pressing for the information day one could be a huge hindrance. But, I would've definitely pushed for the explanation on day two in ABC's case. Him not dying after that scene should've gotten him lynched or at least pressured for the claim. I didn't understand why that wasn't pointed out, but I wasn't about to draw attention to it either.

5) Yes, but by keeping her alive it was meant to send a message that the final scum(which I'd argue wasn't me) wasn't worried about being scanned. Killing trash would've seen me lynched for sure today or tomorrow anyway.

I personally chose him to keep the pool of suspious players larger. If anything I thought it less likely that he'd have a power role after replacement. I did not think for a second he was the doctor. Possibly the cop, but didn't really consider it either.

funny there were no potals this game
