Valkyria Chronicles 2nd Week Sales Comparison:

VC1 - 21K

VC2 - 22K

VC3 - 17K

Bring it back to PS3 SEGA

Damn Straight. They're just anti-trophies.

Still crossing fingers for PSP "emulator" on PS3 once NGP comes out. Then it'll be nothing but VC goodness for me for quite a while.

How does PS3 sell 23K consoles with no substantial game sales?

Used game market is all the roar in JApan. PS3 games do well there in the used market.

Just as well Sony is making a modest profit on each console sold now.

I'd also be really interested in Torne sales.  It was around 500k in September.

Dragon Quest is well known IP even in the west no matter how you put it. DQ VIII has 630k sales in NA alone and Monster Hunter is established IP with a plenty of recognition (not many people buy it but a lot of gamers heard about it)

But after DQ VIII, how many DQ games had similar success? Also DQ VIII did have the FF XII demo. MH is recognized but so what? That doesn't automatically translate to big sales...look at Tales for example. MH3 was marketed right and so it sold more than other MHs over here.

But if you really want to continue with your argument, then I'd say there's a good amount of people who've heard of TLS (just look at that petition, like 10k plus signatures) and Sakaguchi. Also TLS would offer something different than what's usually offered, and it has a Western flair from the gameplay, design, an the graphics. Again, it all depends on how well it's marketed. There's more potential for TLS to succeed elsewhere than in Japan.

Your argument was the same for Zangeki no Reginleiv about it having online co-op, the graphics, WM plus enabled, etc. You were so sure about it's Western release that we even made a bet about it remember? You were arguinng that Sandlot games were good sellers in the West. I think no game is a given anymore from Nintendo. The most likely scenario is that none of the games that aren't big known IP's or Wii series will come to the US. The list has grown bigger since our last argument, it will only favor me.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

What killed Reginliev in NA/EU was Nintendo picking up Samurai Warriors 3 in those territories.  Too similar in design, and it's a shame given it's a far, far worse game that Koei probably would've published anyway.

I would say the end of Sakaguchi working with Nintendo (again, lol). but i'm sure TLS sales are not down to the quality of the title, but the casual Wii userbase. imo the western sales will generate a good response. the old FF fans (SNES) wont let Sakaguchi down - that is who i assume would be buying his games.

I do not want to dissapoint you but here in the EU FF7 was the first Final Fantasy released... So no one here played a SNES FF (except a few US imports) in the first place. The GBA titles were the first chance to play them on a Nintendo system (there was a ps1 collection of 4 and 6 though).

Haha, yeah good point, there are no original SNES FF fans in Europe, because those FFs were never released there. i suppose my rational was flawed anyway because the old FF fans havent come through for him in Japan, they're less likely to in the US imo. but i'm not sure the title has failed tbh.

Barring amazing sales in the West (lol) this could be the end for Sakaguchi...

Well it opened higher than all previous Mistwalker games, and has a better second week than all previous Mistwalker games, so...

Edit: Ah, just read one of your other posts.  Combined with this one, it's apparent that you're one of those people.  Nevermind then.

What do ya mean man?? i remember in another post i mentioned that i dont know what constitutes success for this title. 0.2 mil, 0.3 mil, 0.4 mil etc. what do they need to reinbust the development cost?? they've spent 4 years on it so i'm guessing those sales arnt good enough. but its a Wii title, and those are made a lot cheaper than PS3 or 360 titles.

however i've just thought that Nintendo could release a port for the 3DS, that would surely generate a lot more interest in Japan where RPGs are more successful on the handheld.

so imho, all is not lost!! i think an international release with a strong marketing campagin in the west with a 3DS port could do very well for Sakaguchi and Mistwalker.

This isn't entirely true, though the FFs that had released befoe FF7 were spinoffs and weren't actually called "Final Fantasy" in Europe.  They were Mystic Quest on GB (aka: FF Gaiden/Legend) and Mystic Quest Legend on SNES (aka: FF USA/Mystic Quest), both published by Nintendo.

When is the 3DS being released in Japan?
