So the Osaka branch goes from Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep to this. Damn.

So you play Call Of Duty for the single player?
I wonder how many great games you missed out on because IGN said the suck. I also wonder how many games you bought that were ass because they also said they were great.
If you read any of the reviews instead of just looking at the point totals. You would notice a bias most of the all have. The want real sports options in a fantasy arcade game.
That's like Mario Kart having stats, options, and modes that are found in GT5. That's like people wanting Fireballs in Vitrua Fighter because Street Fighter has them. The are 2 different kinds of game. The reviewers wanted more stat tracking, commentary, and franchise modes.
The single player for this game is for unlocking the options and characters. That add major depth to the gameplay. The meat to any sports game is the online. I wonder how much better NBA Jam would have done it it had it on Wii. You don't play online. Then the game has up to 4 player matches. You don't have any friends then I'm sorry for ya!
If you want depth tell me how you are going to win a match of volleyball. Playing a 4 player match where your opponent has the scarecrow, and the snow witch. Who are very dangerous, and cheap as a team. The entire time needing to gather coins for bonus score points. Avoiding items used against you, and charging your own super meter. If you enjoyed any Mario Sports game in the past. The you will enjoy this. It's better than all of them except Power Tennis. The only reason I say that is because Dodgeball is very weak, and hurts the overall package.
That's something your not going to read in a review. Since they all are too mad because you can't trade players or draft them. This game fails in the casual category so of course they are not going to like it. Your eyes have been opening this entire generation right?

@THE Won first of all i didnt mention IGN at all. matter of fact I trust IGN reviews least of all. so i dont know where your getting that from. and FYI every game i bought (except for KOF12) ive enjoyed. I mentioned Metacritic, because dozen of different reviewers seemed to say the same thing. So i guess all those people dont know what the hell their talking about but you do???? im sorry im less inclined to take the word of someone who is in love with Ninty than a professional reviewer.
Yes i play COD for the single player AND Multi. IF im paying full price for a game, the ENTIRE game needs to be good, not just the online. But if you wanna pay money for a game that is only half decent cause of online then go right ahead, millions of people do it. THe meat of any sports game is online???? yeah becasue lord knows how long sports games has had that feature. By your logic any sport game prior to this gen sucked because it had no online. that includes the Mario ones too. Im sorry but i cant take your review too seriously, you've yet to convince me that the single is worth a damn, it like your making excuses for it being mediocore. I'll say this again. A GAME SHOULD STAND ON ITS SINGLE PLAYER ALONE, i dont care what genre it is. i have friends but they are HD gamers and hate Wii so this would do nothing for me. and im not dropping 50 dollars for a game with mediocore single player with an online mode, i did that crap with Modern Warfare 2 and hated, never again. Since you've pointed out that its not better than Tennis (a game I still own) why would i waste my money on it??? Ironically Dodgeball was the one sport that i actually cared about, so now I have even less motivation to get it. and the only Mario sports titles i really cared about was Tennis & Golf, anything i can do without. Where is the Wii version of these games Ninty, ill wait

Making sports games on Wii without motion plus support is lazy beyond my ability to condone.
Whats lol about that?
| oniyide said: @The Won people rely on review sites cause maybe they dont wanna get ripped off. Crazy idea, right!! and since Ninty doesnt have demos for their retail games, how the hell is one supposed to know how good the game is or not??? You cant get that from watching video games. If someone has that much disposable income where they can buy whatever game and not worry about the quality more power to them, but im on a gaming budget and I have better games to buy, hell ill just dig up my copy of Mario Power Tennis since everyone seems to think thats better anyway. @lordtheknight i would have taken what you said more seriously, but Wii Sports has a Meta score of 80 with 60 positive reviews and no negative ones, so i dont know what reviews you've been reading. im getting sick of all this "reviewers are evil and hate Wii crap" If 60 people review a game and 40 of them think its meh, then has it ever occured to anyone that the game might just be meh??? Maybe some people just have crappy taste in games and dont wanna admit that and get pissed when a game they like gets shot down. But I find it hard to believe that several different people from all over the globe are just conspiring against one particular system/game. Are there some fanboys??? Yes but they are few and far in between. Reviews are not broken, maybe the readers looking at the review is broken(stop reading the score, and read the whole article). |
1. I might have been joking, or I might have not.
2. Your OP made it look like it was getting hosed in the reviews.

@lordtheknight then maybe i should have been more clear. A 68 is passable, but im used to the Mario spinoffs getting in the 80s but maybe im just taking the really popular ones into account

i laughed because ive heard you say something about wii motion plus before.
^^ Oh I get it, that is funny.
Say, do you think more games should use motion plus? Especially sports games?
It offers a much improved level of motion capture which translates into vastly more precise and intricate gameplay mechanics that really take said genre to new heights, wouldn't you say?

Still don't find "official" reviews reliable for the most part anyway, ever since it was revealed the big developers have found basically a formula for good reviews.
