Man, what do you do to your PS3's to make two of them die on you? 

A little off topic, but it's funny that if a person has two 360's die on them,it's time to grab the pitchforks because of MS's crappy product but if two PS3's die on you, it's cool, just get another.

Anyways, sucks to hear the PS3 broke and have fun with the Slim and KZ3. I thought there was a way to transfer protected saves?  I did it somehow when I switched to a slim, I think I just used an ethernet cable so possibly that wouldn't work with a broken PS3.

I suggest you find a new place to put your PS3 so this one lasts.

No worries, the 60-40-20GB's tend to get the YLOD far more than the 80 and especially the slim.

I had upgraded my 60gb HD into 320 and ..it could be a reason why Sony did NOT do that, just saying xD. A lot that die claim they have upgraded the HD. Anyway, I play on it regularly for 2 days, have it on for 2 hours daily atleast (mostly) so yeah... I do take care of it, im just addicted to it and just like any other electronic device if they're being overused, they DIE >:D. My PC died twice during my two PS3s too, so its all cool, it lasts long enough lol.

I just sent in my ylod 40g 2 weeks ago(2nd console). A new one arrived and it doesnt work either. Gotta send it back to them again. Im so pissed.

you beter hope it dies after FW 3.60 for 3.60 PSN can save all there games online even the protected ones you can use a usb now but u wont be able to do the proteceted ones

even if you did a complete ps3 back up  you wouldnt be able to access ur protected ones on a new slim backing up the whole ps3 will back up the proteceted saves but they will only upload on the same ps3 making it usless if ur console ylods

when 3.60 will arrive?

Will PSN save your games automatically? i mean i play 2 hours of lets say Heavy Rain..stop it and the PSN saved it already or do i gotta do it myself per PSN?

Im scared of using my PS3 for games right now...cause i also got a launch 60GB PS3...and there all dying now...but got no backups...and read here that u dont get the protected files on a USB and stuff like that...i really need this PSN thing ^^

also sad when my PS3 dies i got to buy a Slim a PS2 for my PS1/2 games...such a shit move to remove the backward compatibility...ahh Sony is really playing with my heart sometimes xD

Open it, clean it, put a new layer of thermal paste on it... it's cheaper than a new PS2 slim and certainly more convenient... I have a non-BC 80GB fat, and did that just 2 days ago...

ITS ARRIVED! Im gonna send my 60GB to a local shop and get it fixed for about 50€ then sell it for a higher price.

I got a 320GB Slim now though :DD. I now have 5!! PS3 controllers Lolololol.


Had to open the 60GB up so I could get out my beloved GT5 disc lol. It was a fun experience!

Feels awesome.

man... thing like this always gets me concerned about my 60 Gb PS3, already copied all my PS2 data just incase something does happen. my PS3 is going it's 4th year, still plays nicely though.
