Forums - Microsoft - Steam Coming To XBox Live???

http://www.gamersmint.com/steam-features-coming-to-xbox-360-soon/

Microsoft’s recent signing with Jenkins Software which enables them access to the company’s RakNet Tech has opened up a world of possibilities for the console.

This  new tech would give gamers access to a world of exciting features, however, the most important and coolest of which will be the ability to get Steam integrations in future releases for the console.  A similar feature was recently added to the PS3 which enabled it to use a few of Steam’s services like cloud storage, cross platform-chat and more.

The primary list of features it adds to the Xbox 360 are as follows:

• Lobby and room matchmaking
• Network address traversal connectivit
• Use of Steam servers for forwarding traffic

This could very well mean that Steam features, similar to those the PS3 is offering with Portal 2 might be making a appearance for the Xbox 360 aswell. Microsoft might even use RakNet’s tech to allow access to mods and other stuff which might be releasing for Valve’s very own Portal 2 and many more titles in the future.

This is exciting news indeed for fans and we’ll keep you updated as more on this emerges.

I'm very reluctant to believe MS wants Steam anything on the 360.

Perhaps this news could end up being beneficial for mmo games as well. Who knows?

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

Official member of the Xbox 360 Squad

How would this really benefit the average 360 user?

Why would MS want a competting service within their service.  I doubt this will have anything to do with steam but would not be surprised with MS start to use some tech Steam has that it does not.  I definitely see Cloud based services to gold memeber but for all games instead of Valve.

Conegamer - I say that the PS3 will beat the DS next week in Japan  (for hardware sales) Forfeit is control over others avatar for 1 week.

Wow, nice!

Steam for consoles please!

I don't see this happening. For one xbox live and gamesforwindows live are one and the same thing with different names; this would mean GoW live = steam which would be meaningless for MS.

Damned, I hope it's true.

So Steam would be accessible on 360, thanks to a company that is not Valve?

I highly doubt this would ever take place, and even if it did, unless Valve specifically coded their 360 releases to make use of Steamworks features, it wouldn't change anything.
