Forums - Nintendo - 3rd party mainstream advertisment

I just wanted to link to this article for a bit of discussion

http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2007/12/18/nights-on-my-broadcast-tv/

Personally, I don't even watch TV at all, but for those people who have, how many have seen advertising from 3rd party software companies that actually actually seemed to advertise to their target audience?

From what I can recall, this is one of the first cases I've seen (except possibly for Rayman's Raving Rabbits) of some real advertising being done for their game.

Can people point out other commercials done by 3rd party developers? How good are the games and how well do the advertisments target the audience that the games are designed for?

Personally, I think that if this becomes the trend, then this is going to seriously benefit the Wii and all 3rd party software companies that are developing for it.

so what do people think about teh current level of advertising, where it's headed, and how that will affect teh industry as a whole?

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

The industry needs more advertising.

More advertising seems to indicate better sales.

Less advertising seems to indicate poorer sales.

Good advertising is assumed of course.

Well Sony took it upon themselves to advertise some 3rd party games with good results.

Wii third party games with tv ads...Red Steel had a decent advertising campaign last year. EA Sports has one going on now, it's actually pretty hilarious. Dragon Ball Z was advertised last year some also. Hmm. I know I've saw a few others here and there, but nothing too major.

"I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself."

I just saw two commercials for Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 while watching "A Very Brady Christmas" on ABC Family.

While it is a bit of a generality to say so, I think TV advertising $ put into casual games will do better than for more hardcore gamer's games. Just because more casuals player (including kids in this) will watch more TV, than hardcore gamers (who are either online or playing a game, or both). IMO, of course.

Torturing the numbers.  Hear them scream.
