That would put you in the same boat as shio and ssj12. I can't think of a worse place to be.

You have a point. I was just too excited over the thought of being able to make up sales data for the 15 Million seller that was Baldur's Gate.

Hmm.

SEGA, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony.

I might turn into an Apple fan. That way I can piss of Nintendo fans and say the iPhone has won this generation.

You glory hunter...

At varying points in this generation, I've been accused of being a fanboy of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft.

The Microsoft accusation was particularly fun, as I've never owned a Microsoft console... But obviously trivial things like that don't stop you from being one.

Fan doesn't not mean fanboy.  Being a fan of something is healthy is moderation.  Being a fanboy that rejects opposing products and intellectual properties is not healthy.  (Note my signature, it makes me a fanboy)

Also, core doesn't not mean hardcore.  Core means that a game has an established fanbase.  Hardcore means those who play games or think about games more than a few hours a day.

Thank you.  I hope this helps the new members or misformed out there.

Double negative.  So fan does mean fanboy?

Thanks for pointing that out.

I favour Sony but I argue on all sides.

Sega will be doomed when Atari releases the Jaguar 9000!

Well I am a fan of Nintendo and dislike copy cats, especially after they talk down their competition and then copy them :P

That sort of thing is nothing I respect but that does not make me a fanboy it makes me a copycathateboy?

I don’t think anybody thinks I am a fanboy…

well, hateboys actually are one step below a fanboys, as hating sth. is way sadder than loving sth.

I agree wholeheartedly, though I disagree in the use of the word Fanboy, mainly for personal taste.

I think that word is a guaranteed way to discredit any kind of argument (i.e - when you're trying to argue about someone's lack of logic by calling him Fanboy in response, even if you had all the reason in the world).

Now, I'm not a big, moderate or even small fan of gaming companies. Sony, MS, Nintendo (as a gaming company) don't mean anything to me. What I do support, or am a huge fan, are of certain developers and (above all) of certain games.

Nintendo, Square-Enix (both pre-merger and post-merger), Atlus, Blizzard, Bioware, Natsume, PD and Konami are amongst my favourite developers, while the list of games that I'm a huge fan would never end.

But even having those personal favourites, that doesn't mean that I will automatically hate any developer or game that's outside my tastes. If I don't like a game, I just won't play it, but I will still point out the positives that it has (i.e - I really dislike MMO's like WoW, but I won't ever try to bring them down. They might not be my taste, but I understand why they form such a strong community and why a game like WoW has such a massive appeal, and that's a good thing).

Being a big fan, without having the compulsive need to immediately dis anything that falls outside your personal tastes, is one of the things that, IMO, is seriously lacking in the gaming community nowadays.
