I agree wholeheartedly, though I disagree in the use of the word Fanboy, mainly for personal taste.

I think that word is a guaranteed way to discredit any kind of argument (i.e - when you're trying to argue about someone's lack of logic by calling him Fanboy in response, even if you had all the reason in the world).

Now, I'm not a big, moderate or even small fan of gaming companies. Sony, MS, Nintendo (as a gaming company) don't mean anything to me. What I do support, or am a huge fan, are of certain developers and (above all) of certain games.

Nintendo, Square-Enix (both pre-merger and post-merger), Atlus, Blizzard, Bioware, Natsume, PD and Konami are amongst my favourite developers, while the list of games that I'm a huge fan would never end.

But even having those personal favourites, that doesn't mean that I will automatically hate any developer or game that's outside my tastes. If I don't like a game, I just won't play it, but I will still point out the positives that it has (i.e - I really dislike MMO's like WoW, but I won't ever try to bring them down. They might not be my taste, but I understand why they form such a strong community and why a game like WoW has such a massive appeal, and that's a good thing).

Being a big fan, without having the compulsive need to immediately dis anything that falls outside your personal tastes, is one of the things that, IMO, is seriously lacking in the gaming community nowadays.
