Forums - Microsoft - Bing caught copying Google results!

Nothing new, this is how MS does things.  Remember when they had to redo some of the code for Office because it was directly stolen from another program?  That is their MO.

No, I don't remember.  When did this happen?

Yeah that's news to me as well. When did it happen?

Please  excuse my drunken-ness, but will it ever make a difference?

No.

People will continue to rant about Sony DRM, or note its failed inventions, and many of these peoples will support MS products.

No offense meant to anyone, just complaining about double-standards.

What does Sony have to do with google or bing?

In my experience with Bluray vs HDDVD on DVDforum and history here, Sony is always shit on in favor of microsoft. It's unavoidable that both are linked to each other. That's just how it is.

Your drunkness is always excused prof.

But I don't think the complaint applies to me. When OpenOffice became as good as MS word I switched to it. I switched back with the newer version of word because it is genuienly better for scientific reports that don't warrant use of LaTeX. I switched to Mac during the Vista years and back now (it was a hard choice, but I got a good deal on a W7 based computer that Apple couldn't match at the time) I don't use IE, bing, GFWL or any other MS products.

As for why this is a big deal, it now means that there is almost no competition amongst search providers. Yahoo now uses bing, which uses google. The only unique one is Alpha, and that's hardly an every day thing

Bing and Yahoo are the same search engine now. You probably don't know, but Yahoo uses Bing to give you results. So they have about 30% of search marketshare at this point, compared to Googles 66%.

Bing is a lot bigger than most people realize.

 http://techcrunch.com/2011/01/03/compete-says-bings-total-u-s-market-share-grew-to-29-in-november/

People talk about Google taking Microsofts marketshare in laptops with android and free office...but MS is going for the ONLY marketshare Google makes money on...search. And Google has lost 7% marketshare in the last 12 months.

They just changed their CEO too...just saying.

As far as the OP, I don't know enough about search and the algorythms at play...and I don't want to sound retarded like some people above by pretending like I do know, so Ill keep quiet.

Google should sue them.

very naughty

No one uses Bing in the first place. I guess bad publicity is publicity nonetheless. Whenever I see a Bing commercial on TV everyone in the room laughs and then it usually sparks up a Google conversation and how we all love it. Considering whether it be in an MMORPG or in real life a question is often times answered with "google it" that just highlights googles dominance and popularity. Bing will slowly die away within the next years or 2 much in the way HDDVD did before it. A small group of followers supporting a lesser version of a better more popular thing.
