Forums - Microsoft - Help Me Pick Out Some 360 Games

(I didn't see an official thread for these types of topics but if there is I'm sorry I missed it)

I just got a 360 (for the 3rd time), and want some help picking out some games.

First thing to know is I don't like FPSs or realistic sports games (Madden, Fifa, etc.).

I know it is supposed to be a great series but I cannot get into Mass Effect.

Games I've already played and enjoyed are Assassin's Creed I, and II (I plan to get Brotherhood at some point), Batman Arkham Asylum, Fable 2 (is Fable 3 worth getting?), and Viva Pinata.

I think I would like a racing game, preferably more of an arcade racer (Project Gotham, Burnout, Need for Speed, Dirt), but there are a lot of choices so I don't know which one to start with. I'm less interested in the Forza franchise but could be convinced.

RPGs have never been my favorite genre, but I feel like giving them a try, so maybe both a WRPG and JRPG.

Also, if there are games that you know are available for cheap now, that would be a nice bonus.

I think that is a good start on detailing what I'm looking for. Thanks for your help!

Ninja Gaiden 2

Tales of Vesperia

Banjo

Fable III is definitely worth it.

There's a demo for Dirt 2. Download it and see if you like it. There's also a demo for Forza 3 if you wanna know how that plays.

For a WRPG, I recommend Oblivion GOTY which you should find pretty cheap right now.

For a JRPG, try Lost Odyssey.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit for Racing

Dragon Age Origins for WRPG

Do you specifically dont like FPS games or just shooters in general?

Because if you only dislike FPS Games, then Red Dead Redemption is a great choice. That is of course if you dont mind Open World Games

lost odyssey

infinite undiscovery

Thanks for all the help so far.

I have a couple of questions. How does Bano play? I've nseen a couple videos and I'm still not exactly sure what kind of game it is, it does not look like the N64 versions. All what about Dragon Age Origins, what are you doing in that game?

@Cross-X, just FPS, I have just never been good at controlling them with dual analog, but I like 3rd person shooters fine.

Lost Odyssey has gotten several mentions, so I think I'll start with that as my JRPG.

Alan Wake has also gotten several mentions, and was a game that I have been interested in, so I'll try to find that one too.

If anybody else has other games than the ones mentioned, or wants to give an endorsement to an already mentioned game that would be great.

Thanks again!

BIOSHOCK 1!!!

and lost odyssey or tales of vesperia(i would say to probably go with lost odyssey 1st maybe)

^^^oh i forgot that bioshock is an fps =P

still i dont like fps game's too much either beside's a few but the 1st bioshock is where it's at lol

Heh if you don't like FPS's 360 probably isn't the greatest console choice for ya :P

But anyway, it sounds like Burnout: Revenge is your game.. Very fun aracde racer. I think you can find it now for like $20. I didn't care for Paradise.

Also, if you are curious to check out RPGs, definitly check out Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Tales of Vesperia. I agree I couldn't really get into Mass Effect either, but thankfully those I mentioned are very different than Mass Effect.

If you appreciate the budget games, I'd reccomend following the XBLA, some of the most fun games I've played on the console and most are very cheap. Shadow Complex, Braid, Worms, Plants VS Zombies, Lara Croft, Castle Crashers, Geometry Wars 2, Toy Soilders, Scott Pilgrim are all great games.

Then that's great.

I would also recommend highly Gears of War series if you already dont have them. There's a rerelease pack coming out with Gears 1 and 2 plus all DLC next month so get that.

And like I said, get Red Dead Redemption.

With regards to Dragon Age Origins, it's a WRPG that has sorta like Lord of the Rings style setting where you can create your own character and select the race of your chracter and basically embark on an adventure, kill enemies, build relationships etc the usual stuff you do in RPGs. It's definitely not like Mass Effect. I'm also recommending Dragon Age Origins because of Dragon Age II that's coming out in March. It's a great looking game with lots of improvements here and there from DA:O. You can certainly start from Dragon Age II but you can also import save files from DA:O which could also shape how you play in DA II.

So if you want, get the Dragon Age Origins Complete Edition where it gives you all the DLC plus the Expansion, Awakening for a good price now.
