Forums - Nintendo - Game Informer Reviewers Must Hate the Wii

I got my January Game Informer today.

Now let me say that I get the magainze becuase I get the discount program card. And believe me, I can earn it back in a month.

Half of the 10 editors did not have any Wii games in their top 10.

Think about it -- half the editors for the magazine don't think that Super Mario Galaxy -- the most highly reviewed game of this generation -- is one of the top 10 games of the year.

This even though both reviewers gave it a 9.75 in this issue and it was the Game of the Month. (Both of those editors had it in their top 10s, including one who had it as the top game of the year). And only two games appear to have earned higher scores -- BioShock (X-Play's GoTY, BTW) and CoD4 both had perfect 10s.

Some of the editors even listed games in their picks that had review scores of less than 9 in GI.

Now I am not going to say SMG is the best game of the year. But if does appear there is an anti-Wii bias coming through with more and more publications.

I have felt recently that GI has "been in the tank" for the PS3. And when they said in the opening that ... "this year saw some outstanding games help Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo jockey for position in the ongoing console war."

Note the order.

Any thoughts?

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Maybe they just picked the games they enjoyed the most.

Is that really so bad?

wow, your almost as paranoid as all the ps3 fans yelling biase at all the sights that lowered their games reviews.

Seriously everyone has opinions, you need to understand this. They gave the game a very fair review, and so what if some people dont realy like it, they let the people who are fans of that review it so who gives a crap.

The order deal is a bunch of crap, game informer has had errors before ( i remember the whole bioshock on ps3 thing they had listed) and this was not an error or biase, they just put them in that order.

Just like how not everyone on here likes halo, or didnt think bioshock was good, or were dissapointed with ME, and SMG. People have opinions, just leave it alone.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Proud supporter of all 3 console companys

Proud owner of 360wii and DS/psp

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

That doesn't really have anything to do with the publication's bias. Different editors work in different departments. The fact that they don't care about Wii games is irrelevant because they're most likely not working on Wii game reviews.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Well yeah, then that's not really "Best 10 games of the year." That's "You're favorite 10 games of the year." "Best games of the Year" are supposed to show you can look outside of your self. For example i'm not a fan of Halo games. It would still be on my "Best Games of the Year" list... and quite high.

What would the point of all 10 editors doing their own 10 best games list be if they were all supposed to be the same? Of course they were supposed to be subjective personal 10 best games lists.

I just read through my copy and thought that some of them were really off. One reviewer had Picross for the DS but not super mario galaxy. Another guy had Puzzlequest but not Super mario galaxy..

so? it's subjective. doesn't seem like Nintendo minds it, why should you? clearly millions other don't care about their opinions either.

the Wii is an epidemic.

God forbid people don't choose your favorite games in their own personal favorites list. Get over it.
