There's one more week, so there is still a chance, right?

Damn, were the year made of 53 weeks, there could have possibly been enough for a canonical triple W00t!

Well dont forget that the Wii gets DQX next year along with MP10, 2 potential japanese million sellers which is something the Wii didnt have in 2011 for the first time ever... That said the Wii U should kill any momentum the Wii comes up with.

Next year should be very interesting, maybe a better competition would be: 3DS vs Everything Else?

My last update on this thread, still 1 week of sales missing though!

Did the Wii even have a chance since every developer is working on Wii U games now?

Yeah probably no chance for the Wii, especially since Japanese people get all the Nintendo consoles early (I think) and they're probably expecting it to arrive soon for them. Those smart Japanese people! ;D

Some people predicted a much greater (and sooner) Zelda effect and DQ X to be released in 2011 and even PS3 fans were predicting much more balanced sales levels with end year closing gap to minimal.

I will not quote trestes.

Looks like there will be no battle this year in Japan for the Wii and the PS3. A final skirmish will take place, but that will be it. The Wii will have to retreat to America and possibly Europe where they still have some strength left.
Is Mario Party not coming to Japan this year?

Wii U will kill sales of Wii in USA and western Europe imho and it won't have popularity in emerging markets to hold it sales PS2 style.
