Wii will outsell PS3 by big margin 98 10.35%

As Zlejedi points out this is going to come down to how big of a lead PS3 can build up prior to the holidays. I think it will have no trouble getting a 200k lead. We're only 4 weeks into the year and the gap is already 30k in PS3's favor and that's with week 1 being a tie and week 4 having a major Wii game release and PS3 not having any major releases or bundles yet for the year. If PS3 and Wii both cut price at the same time than I can see PS3 building up over a 400k or even 500k lead. If DQX is a holiday release I don't think even that will be enough to put the Wii on top if the gap is that big.

...And it looks like both Sony and Nintendo are perfectly fine with their respective strategies about how their sales go through the year, so the difference could likely be small again, couldn't it?

In fairness, Wii also didn't have a big game for 2010, and it still has the possibility of getting DQX this holiday...

Updated the op with numbers and February releases.

In January PS3 did over 22k adventage and February should finish with PS3 selling 30-40k ahead of Wii imho.

I feel that the PS3 will continue to outsell the Wii and then come the holidays the Wii will come close to closing that yearly gap.

With each passing day I'm becoming more and more pessimistic about this title. On one hand we know Square Enix hates Wii on the other hand it is a Yuji Horii game so he has the last word. If Dragon Quest X doesn't make it this year it will be a huge mistake because by 2012 Wii will be completely dead and they will lose at least a potential million copies because I don't see Dragon Quest X selling more than 2 or 2.5 millions units after next Christmas.
