This thread isn't about Wii so why do you have to namedrop it yet again? Why do you think people care so much?

People care about the possibility of the 360 reaching 100 million units sold. If it pulls that off or even if it doesn't, a comparison to other systems isn't that farfetched. A post like this is relevant, because it highlights how much of a feat it is to sell 100 million units, because only a couple home consoles have managed to do that so far.

Beyond that, the Wii was indirectly mentioned in the original post. Maybe from now on the Wii should be called "the console that shall not be named".

Actually 2 only, PS1/PS2. The Wii will be the first non Sony console to hit 100M.

OT. I don't think it'll happen, It'll be at 80/85M before X720 comes in I guess, and if it stops selling the same way the first Xbox did when new gen started, then no way.

nah not even close 70 million tops 2010 was it's biggest year and it's gonna remain that way xbox only has about 2-3 good exclusives this year so not a chance!

btw i think ps3 might have a chance selling higher than ps3 cause of ps3 long life span so about 80 million tops for the ps3

360 is currently at 51.2 million, and last year sold 13.6 million, at that rate, it would take about 3.6 years from now to reach 100 million, and that's assuming it maintains its sales for that long, so probably no, same with the PS3.

To put it bluntly, Wii has a better chance of ovetaking the PS2 (currently at 141 million) than the 360 and PS3 have of breaking 100 million



Rumors indicate that it is planning on following the first approach, sticking a new, motion-sensitive controller onto an existing console. Our perspective is that this is the worst of the three options.

There is always a chance but  i would say no.  Only console that will hit 100 millions is Wii, i really don´t see 2 home console doing that.

Honestly, I don't think it will reach 100 million.  However, 75 million seems likely in the long run.  Like you said anything is possible though.

No, the Wii will struggle to reach the PS1 and I don't think the Xbox 360 can fall short of just 10m by Wii...

Why would Wii struggle to reach PS1?

 Its only 18 million away from it, it'll probably get there by April or May of 2012 at the latest

I don't know why but I thought that the PS1 reached 110m; which is my LTD estimate for the Wii, and so I said 100m for Xbox 360 is too much IMHO.
