Forums - Microsoft - Alan Wake Devs Coy on Sequel

Helldescent

In our interview with Remedy’s Head of Franchise Development, Oskari Häkkinen and Creative Director, Sam Lake of Alan Wake, we asked about the possibility of a sequel. It’s one of those questions that either gets a yes or no answer, but sometimes you get a coy message along the lines of “we can’t say anything yet”. But if there’s nothing to say, why say you can’t say it? Aha! Call us nitpickers, but Oskari Häkkinen response to our sequel question tripped off some alarms.

Unfortunately there is nothing that we can disclose at this point of time, other than Alan Wake is very close to our hearts.

Alan Wake was a fantastic game with great narrative and we really hope to see the series continue. Hopefully we are correct about this suspicious answer, and Alan Wake returns.

Damn it! Announce it already! This game was pretty awesome, if a bit repetitive, gameplay wise. The story was fantastic and the first few hours the atmosphere was amazing.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Alan Wake was a good game...

alan wake, is my 2nd favorite suspense/horror style game this gen, only behind. condemned criminal origins for me.

Meh...just do few more DLCs and call it a day. The core mechanics are way too repetitive to warrant another game...

Its obviously Remedy does action best so just have them to an all out, throw in a kitchen sink, Vanquish type of game with multiplayer.

They could really use some serious backing from MS this go around. One of the greatest tragedies in the case of Alan Wake was it's mishandling.

Yup, with some gameplay tweaks, more enemies, and massive advertising, AW could be a big franchise, 2 - 3 mill.

My guess is it will be announced E3 of this year or next. You will hold the flash light with your kinnect.

It's just that simple.

Yeah a freaking fiasco, that's what it was.

With the push MS promised (I think they hinted at least) Alan Wake would have gotten better reviews and sold over 2 million and be a force to be reckoned with. An important addition to the scarce excsluive library.

Now it's just seen as a fringe franchise.

It was a great game, but I think a sequal is a little much. Unless they brought Wake to another location the game would seem kind of redundant unless they changed it up a lot.
