Forums - Sony - PSP2: What it Really Needs

Thanks MUGEN for your constructive Criticism and Praise. I have had a PSP since launch and it goes wherever I go. I am very much anticipating the PSP2. Hopefully it will finally be revealed on the 27th.

The track pad could be cool, but like I said I don't know because it's usage on the PSP would be pretty different than we are used to.

And I am not a fan of UMD either, I just think at this point it is necessary.

Now that I think about it. I should of added Friends List right up there with trophies. Thats pretty crucial as well. It would be nice to still message Friends when I am on the go. Or better yet, GASP.....Use the PSP2 for cross game chat! Although that is probably to insane for most of us to handle.

yes better interaction between ps3/psp2 via PSN and such would be amazing

and also I think sony need to focus on (as in actually market) casual friendly games more, especially in the USA, that's a market they need to tap into if they really want to exapand more

Two memory slot sticks? UMD?

wtf is this?

It needs games and loads of them. If they are going to stick with physical discs or carts, then at the very least every PSP2 game should be available on PSN day of release.

the things youre asking for in a browser are simply not going to happen, it requires too much memory

Like I said in OP. Many developers are down right refusing to make DD versions of their games for the reasons stated. SE, who is making many blockbuster titles for PSP will not be releasing many of them as Downloads due to Piracy. UMD drive is a bit of wishful thinking for Backwards Compatibility sake. I have seen articles stating that it already does have two Mem stick ports.

Edit PS.

The PSP had plenty of really good games. While no one will ever dispute games are essential they are not the only important thing. PSP had stellar titles like MGS PO,SOCOM series,Crisis Core, FF Tactics, PES3, MGS Peace Walker, The GOW Portables,Patapon, LocoRoco,Monster Hunter etc. All highly rated and loved. It wasn't enough to match DS's very "diverse" lineup and mass market appeal.

I don't see why not. The DSi has a better running browser than the PSP actually does. Faster loads and can get many sites the PSP can't due to memory constraints. Almost all phones can get basic internet these days. I don't even have a 3G phone or touch phone but it runs better than the PSP one does. It really shouldn't be that hard.

it needs big exclusives with Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber to broaden its audience.

No DD means no buy for me. I refuse to lug around a bunch of bloody games in my pocket when we are well past the stage that physical disc/carts for portable systems is a complete waste. It's the primary reason I havn't used my PSP/DS in ages. My phone does a better job now.

If by two memory slots you mean one for games and one for extra space, sure. But if you mean 2 memory slots plus   UMD/cart slot, that's bloody weird.

THe idea of the Two Memory Stick ports is that they will be moving PSP2 titles from UMD to Memory sticks. The 2nd one is indeed for extra storage. Whether the system will have built in memory as well is unclear.
