 MS can surely absorb those losses better than Sony but unlike Sony, MS never made a profit on their console business. They're down 7B since they launched Xbox1.

 Sony is down 3B with PS3 but they made WAY more than 3B with PS1, PS2 and PSP. Sony investors already saw the money so they understand the losses on he first few years but MS investors didn't. MS needs to prove they can run a console business or their investors will push them out of it.

 Also, MS will be on their 3rd year with the 360, they really need to show profits this year.

The price drop comes just before GT4. Thats a no brainer.

But by how much? I hope MS are smart enuff to drop the price by $100 and totally slay the PS3, even in Europe.

Even with the Premium X360 at $249 MS will be profitable due to huge software sales (but not by much).

In 7 years they were never profitable except for the Halo 3 quarter where they posted a mere $200 something million profit.

Microsoft is greedy.... maybe $50...

They should of cut the european console cost a full $100 before this season... oh well the lose a whole continent..

$50 for all 3 when GTA4 comes out. Because European consumers need extra incentive (maybe not as smart as Americans when it comes to games?) to buy the 360 version for some reason.

Then in november, expect a $30 drop for Arcade, making it $199. A $30 drop for Pro ($269). And $50 for Elite, making it $350. Expect a PGR4 pack in.

It depends on the market. If Microsoft is still selling well in 2008, they may not see a need to price cut at all. If sales start too slug along like the early part of this year, I expect on in time for GTA 4. I dont think there gonna rush it though. They still wanna milk the system for as much money as they can Im sure.

Remember, MS started Xbox as a defensive move against Sony, they really don't care about the money lost if it keeps Sony from taking control of the living room, because it protects their OS market
