Forums - Nintendo - Samus is NOT playable in DoA:D, probably...

http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=148306#comment-section

The quote is rather confusing, but seems to lead to a sort of "Assist Trophy" status for her

"The concept of this game is basically to create the best version of Dead or Alive. Actually for the Metroid collaboration, we had help from Nintendo and they're really friendly with us. But the concept of Dead or Alive as the best version of the game means Samus Aran or Metroid is something different. That's why we are not focusing on that in terms of the concept. So talking about Samus Aran, is she playable or not? This time she's not playable. But Samus Aran will be shown in the game. She comes to help the player. That's the collaboration shown there [in the trailer]. But how you can unlock Samus Aran? Please find out by yourself." - Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi

What, no Samus upskirt? How will we live? What will we do?

Never has out future seemed more uncertain...

Makes sense. Samus would be crippled by the fact that she couldn't use any of her moves until Adam gave her the okay. :P

Adam's dead. She's her own boss now.... again.

She'll probably come out as a secret move in zero suit, in flash she'll have her suit on and then blast the enemy with a super weapon of some sort.

Plus, putting her in any fighting game is simply unfair unless it has a bunch of other Nintendo IPs. She just too powerful.

That's sad, Samus with the Zero Suit would fit well in the game.

awww, that sucks. DOA4 got a Spartan and Soul Calibur 2 got Link, so why the heck can't Samus be playable in DOA? Just having a Metroid stage but no Samus seems pretty pointless

Crossovers always have to limit things, otherwise one well-placed Lightsaber strike would have been instant death for Ivy, Sophitia, Sigfried, et al in SCIV

Well, that makes your decision on getting Okamiden that much easier.

Probably. I'll get Okamiden and Pilotwings on 3DS launch day (if Pilotwings is actually on the USA launch), and take them off with me to Japan
