Forums - Sony - Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty 4 (both PS3) break 1 mil

Awesome.

Uncharted will sell a million as well with NA sales it should be at 500k.

Also I expect FIFA 08 and pro evolution to be the next million sellers.

I hope the ORANGE BOX and ut3 sell a million as well.

(I say the orange box because it will prove to valve that the ps3 isnt a waste of money and the ORANGE BOX brings 5 great games).

Orange Box has no chance of selling a million on PS3. Even the 360 version isn't very close.

if that was the case wouldn't Heavenly Sword have sold 1 million +

FACT REMAINS

AC has been LOVED by the userbase...It has a brilliant word of mouth here in UK n I love the game...it's the ONLY game where I have disagreed with reviewers..

Heavenly Sword? A game that you can most certainly beat within a few hours with not much else to do after beating it? Yeah, there is a reason why I din't mention Heavenly Sword, and as a matter of fact, didn't even cross my mind until you uttered it.

Are you certain that all of the userbase LOVES Assassin's Creed? The word of mouth in the states is that this game has many flaws, something I can guarantee that the whole userbase does not deny. A game with dumb AI and weak combat, and still there are people who think this games is a Godsend.

the orange box doesn't deserve to sell a million on ps3. Just to show EA that nobody buys their crappy ports. They can look at call of duty to get prove that good ports are worth the invested money. Seriously EA has to die. They can go wii exclusive for all I care. On the other hand I would really like to play episode 1 and 2 my of is not fast enough anymore. Damn you ea

Sometimes the unstoppable force of the hype train leaves no survivors.

Still, I was interested in both Ratchet and Uncharted and the demos for both games pretty much killed that interest.  Sad, in a way.

Well that's your opinion.

The opinions of many after the release of both demos were good. The reviews of both games were good.

Assassin's Creed gets a mixed reception, and the damn thing sells a mil.

I wasn't suggesting that the demos or the games themselves were not high-quality; I can certainly recognize that they are.  The gameplay style just didn't turn out to be something that I enjoyed, which was disappointing.  As I said, I was interested in both games.  I may have to rent them for a more thorough evaluation somewhere down the line.

The MAIN point that I was trying to make, though, was that Assassin's Creed reached that sales mark largely on the back of all that hype the game was generating.  Whether the game received a mixed critical reception or not, it was far more universally present in the gaming media than either Uncharted or Ratchet, which is of course likely a condition of it being on more than one platform.  The reviews weren't exactly terrible, either, though not as good as the other two games mentioned.  The sheer force of its presence in the public eye brought it high sales, regardless of other factors.

famine: this game IS a godsend. For every little flaw there are ten things that are generations ahead of all other games this year. Graphics (really unbelievably beautiful), movement( you really miss Altair when playing other games this is how games should control even drake felt clumsy after Altair) the huge cities and its inhabitants, the best game setting this year and I loved the fighting, people said you could win by always pressing counter kill but either they patched it or I somehow didn't get it for me fights were great fun and quite balanced. A group of Templars was no push-over.

So all in all for me the best game 2007 but at the very least the game with most innovations we will see again this year.

In the end reviews only help if a game is cool. I dont know why so few game designers use stories people can relate to. Ratchet is a great game but its protagonist is a yellow fur thing with gigantic ears. No fair comparison to being an haschaschin from the crusades. There are thousands of games playing in a weird future with more or less futuristic accessoires. A game playing in Rome would be nice or how about the Trojan war or one playing in china. And I'd like to see more contemporary settings like uncharted I hope it sells well.

The graphics are nice, but the glitches and framerate problem most certainly bring it down a notch. The movement along the rooftops is great, but then there are the unwarranted bumping into people that I found to be really irritating. The combat is questionable, and the AI, once again plain and simple, dumb.

This game is definitely not a Godsend. It may be good at times, but it doesn't deserve the amount of praise it has gotten.
