To be honest i am not surprised to see LBP2 open lower. I bought the first one on day one. Have to say without a shadow of a doubt it is one of the most over rated games i have ever played. I put it in the same group as games like Scribblenauts. Fun for about 20mins then just get bored and never play it again. Its like "look you got this guy who can run, jump, pull leavers, climb ropes! etc etc as unique as it claims to be i just don't get it. I been doing that for years in games like Mario. So i am sure there are quite a lot of people like me who played the first and won't bother with the sequel. But i actually hope the game goes on to do very well because Media Molecule are a bunch of really talented guys from England and i am all for local support. Just next time do something from your Lionhead days.

The level creation tools are what was unique mostly. Also its visual style is quite good.

LBP2 is much more about creating genres/games in the world than just creating levels. It's really nothing like Mario, which is why the comparison is off. And really, it sold 95 copies less in the UK week 1. Key differences - LBP 1 released on Wed, LBP2 on Friday. Regardless, that's not really "selling less" in a meaningful way, especially considering the mentioned variables.

Anyway: Agree with Okey, GT5 isn't budging and LBP2 should open to the tune of 400-500k first week.

See and right there in my opinion is a fine example of why i think the game is over-rated. These genres that you talk about are really just one genre and that is "platformer". You can't escape that. The vast amount of user created levels are platformer like 99.99999% ? There are some other things that can be made too like pool or other little mini arcade games.  Or should i say imitations of current arcade games?

Someone even made an fps game check it out http://uk.gamespot.com/ps3/action/littlebigplanet2/video/6278801

But if you look beyond the "omg it is an fps game in LBP!" momment and step back and actually think about it how amazing is it really? The gun doesn't fire right, there seems to be no hit boxes and the targets move up and down in whack a mole style. Meaning whats the point?  Just play a real fps game...

So really the amazing thing about LBP is that users can create anything they want? Which is the other line which makes me laugh. If that is the case why do we see so much of the same thing? Look at the popular levels, how many of them are Mario re-creates like this  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpK3BYrt2OY   now i am not knocking the guy who made it. He put time and effort into it, fair play to that guy. But rather then make a very poor imitation of Mario levels, why not go and play Mario??  It is like spending £40 to play something that cost £5.

And that to me is all LBP is. A tool for people to make poor limited versions of other games. No different to things like Garrys Mod or Scribblenauts. It presents a new and easier way of doing it. But it isn't new. And that is why in my opinion it is over-rated. As i said before i hope its sales go on to be very good. But i won't buy it, and i'm sure there are loads of people who think the same. And to just go back to that line "you can create anything you want!"  then why not create LBP2 in LBP1? ;)

Fable is an overhyped POS, you have fallen for the Molyneaux hype, but then again LBP is also an overhyped POS, but it's still playable...

fable is better than little big planet by a lot but i guess both are good
