Forums - Nintendo - How much will Wii 2 cost?

Without knowing more about Nintendo's strategy I can't say for sure, but I am certain it will be more than $200 (most likely more than $250) and it will be less than $399 (most likely less than $350).

With how successful the XBox 360 and PS3 were with launching at (or above) $400, if Nintendo can develop something "revolutionary" that can redefine gaming I could see them launching a system at $399 with a game; but if Nintendo is producing something much more evolutionary I would expect them to try to launch below $300.

Personally, there are lots of technologies that I think are somewhat interesting and could be applied to videogames and are inexpensive enough to make them practical. Vector graphics based laser projectors, low resolution LCD projectors, cameras, RFID, etc. are all inexpensive enough that $100 to $200 worth of equipment could drastically change how people interact with games; but if Nintendo is putting $200 into hardware beyond the cost of the basic console, I doubt they would sell it for less than $399 because Nintendo doesn't accept losses on hardware that won't be recovered from most people's initial purchases of games or accessories (remember, they did take a loss of roughly $20 on the sale of the Gamecube at launch).

I'm guessing it will be right around 300 dollars.

I think you guys are forgetting about how the US dollar's value is plummeting. Nintendo can't afford to release it as cheaply as before. And if the IMF changes the world reserve currency from the US dollar like its rumored to be planning, the dollar will be even more worthless in the world market. $300 - $400 with a processor/GPU power boost of 250%.

If that hologram thing that we heard about 2 years ago was true, I'd change my guess from $300 to $400.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Well, the Wii 2 won't be a Wii 1.5. Power-wise, I don't think that the Wii 2 will be as powerful as the PS4, or Xbox 720, but it will come pretty close. (Around as big a gap as the PS2 and GCN). Since the power will have an influence on the price, I think it will launch at $250 if there isn't anything revolutionary. If they start another gaming revolution, it could go as high as $400

Whatever has a decent margin over the total costs to bring it to the market. Nintendo won't sell for a loss and given the rising costs of the higher technology, I'd put it around $300. But, that is purely speculation on what it may contain on the insides considering I don't think they will want to be so far behind the competition on technology this go around as that obviously hurt them in the 3rd party market even through they were the dominate console.

Those of you who keep mentioning the Dollar to Yen ratio are being ignorant of the 3DS.

Yen to Dollar ratio should have it priced around $300, however it launched at the same /10-ish scheme all Nintendo consoles do..

25,000 yen price equated to $250.00 3DS, when if it really took the ratio it should have been ~$300.

I think this disproves how much weight many of you are giving the weak dollar.
