Man I was watching Pach Attack today expecting to hear another false prediction I did not intend to hear an insult towards all the women in the US Military. Today about 20% of the US army is female and Mr Pachter decided to insult pretty much all of them.

"Its just not realistic to have a female lead character" in army games because as he says "There aren't female combat troops in the US Army". Now correct me if I'm wrong but I know their are women combat troops in the Canadian Army and I'm pretty damn sure their are female combat troops in the US Army. "If your playing a US Army soldier its going to be a guy". Infact I know their have been several paratrooper women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan these women gave their lives for the US and Pachter doesn't even recognize them.

Also talking military shooters their are female combat troops in the Israeli , British and Russian armies to my knowledge as well. The question is why isn't it realistic to have a female soldier in one of the modern military games. Almost all modern militaries incorporate females into their armed forces.

Pachter is a dick and doesn't know what he's talking about, I thought VGC knew that!

If he's right why are American women soldiers being killed? I know for a fact that their are Canadian female combat troops I know a few have died and I see them on the news all the time. You saying that women aren't allowed to fight in the US Army? And if women aren't allowed to fight why were several killed in combat including Paratroopers (Which I believe count as combat troops?

Now I'm no expert on the US Army but the US Army stated that 20% of the army is female. If its that high why aren't any of them fighting?

Depends on what kind of wargame it is. Even a WWII could have a female lead and be realistic. You could be a spy, a member of the french resistance or simply be a Russian soldier.

In modern warfare-esque games, or futuristic shooters a female lead wouldn't be crazy at all. Most FPS gamers being males is a problem though.

There's something like 12-15 support troops for every combat troop. I'd guess they're mostly filling those roles. But just because women aren't allowed to be in direct combat roles, that's not to say they don't have dangerous jobs where they can come under attack. Here's a story about a recent Pentagon study that recommends women in combat roles, though.

Looks like women are banned from the infantry in the British armed forces, too.

Man just looked it up on Google. Thats bull shit Canada allows women in our infantry why the hell doesn't the US. Though I did read that women are still allowed in air force and naval combat roles. They just aren't allowed in the front line infantry.

I just realized something in Medal Of Honour their is a female helicopter pilot I swear. Its pathetic that the US doesn't let women fight. The whole women are weaker thing is bull I have met several girls (Well 3) that could take the shit out of any guy I know. They deserve to be able to serve alongside men. Heck most of the military activities aren't hand to hand combat its shooting guns and theirs no reason a women can't shoot a gun as good as a man.

Think there is something like a 33% chance of getting raped or sexually assaulted if you are a woman who joins the army.

The military is fucked up.

It might be why they're afraid of gays in the military.  Gay men might rise out high enough and do the same thing to them.   The military needs a SERIOUS overhaul and needs the MP's and discipline to be completely removed from the military's hands.

In an age where you can kill a person by pulling a trigger I see no reason to not have women in direct combat roles. Let alone the fact that there are historical examples of women in the field of battle, theres really no reason in this day and age to restrict it.
