Do I bite the bullet? Glowing reviews...love survival horror.
But dead space 1 had glowing reviews and was touted as survival horror. In truth it was a really shitty survival horror game...a good shooter...but complete shit for people that don't like their survival horror dipped in to action batter.
Im guessing I'll hate this one too...but will rent it.

I still haven't played the original one and I was planning to do it soon. Your words tore my heart to pieces.

You very much missed the obvious.

It really depends what you like in your horror games... If you liked the horror found in Alan Wake, REsident Evil 4-5...you will like Dead Space too. The..."Its only scary till I have it in my gun sights..." type of horror.
I preffer the less in your face and more psychological scares which make you uneasy. I found Portal more scary after the system tries to kill you, than any of these games...

I wouldn't be too worried. Sounds like his oppinion was in the vast minority. I played it and loved it as a survival horror game. Probably even more than I liked Alan Wake.

Really? Portal scared you? That's.... different. What other actual survival horror games have you played and liked?

Cause both fine examples of survival horror.
Seriously though they need to invent a new genre for games like Alan Wake and dead space. Shooter horror maybe. Cause there isn't any "survival" involved... Map tells you where to go, what to shoot and how to shoot it.
Its strictly walk, aim, shoot, rinse, repeat...type of game.
The game sees to borrow from FEAR. IF you live survival horror games then I think you should check it out regardless of the gameplay or it being "too action orientated".
Tacked on multiplayer that looks to be a poor imitation of L4D...I would have thought visceral games would have known better. At least they've seem to nail the single player game.
I'm playing through dead space again in anticipation of dead space 2.
If only I could play it now! haha
