Forums - Gaming - Capcom: Hardcore gamers have left dedicated portables for smartphones

Bow before me ....... and give me your money.

“The casual gamer that used to play on the PC and the hardcore gamer that used to play on a dedicated gaming portable now plays on their smartphone. The iPhone and larger smartphone markets are extremely important to Capcom as, like no device before, smartphones have the potential to become a universal game platform. We have a lot of stuff on the horizon for both hardcore and casual gamers, so 2011 is shaping up to be huge on Capcom’s mobile front.” - Capcom Interactive’s president and COO Midori Yuasa

It's such a sadness that you think you've played a game on your ffffucking telephone! Get real!

AMEN!

Who wants to carry around more than 1 portable device?  I think this is probably Sonys reasoning with the PSP2 phone.

Most anticipated games of 2011:

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith

Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D

...

I humbly disagree.

The real appeal of smartphone gaming is the mass market audience and the low cost of game development. A 14 year old just put together a game in his spare time for the iOS and it already dethroned Angry Birds for top download. It is funny to think that game developers are always whining about how games are just as dynamic as films, yet when it comes to the rising costs of these cinematic games, they all cringe. That is why the shovelware keeps on coming for the Wii and it is why these developers want to jump ship for portable gaming. They want high profit margins and low expenses. I can't even imagine what the next generation will be like. $70 games may be on the horizon (at which point, I quit gaming, or stick with Nintendo at least, assuming they don't jump on the bandwagon for raising game prices).

more stolen games?

I guess this is why Capcom doesn't have a game releasing in the 3DS's launch window.

Oh wait...
