you.. should be able to use items ^^ only thing is that you have to wait after you have used one for a short time.

Flee is at the far left of the battle menu screen I think.

I tried to use an item in a fight but the item command had a stop sign over it.

Where are you in the game?

I tried to use an item in a fight but the item command had a stop sign over it.

It depends on the item. For example, food items can't be used during battle.

I've played all the Star Ocean games except for the one that didn't release in the U.S. (Blue something) and this one doesn't hold up to the games before it. Mind you, I only made it through about 20 hours, which I think is halfway.

You should be able to use items now. I believe.

that's weird then, everything had a "do not use" sign over it except tactics...as for items, I had items like fruits can I not use them during battle?

Some items can only be used outside of battle. Also I believe that some items are only useable in Synthesis.

really liked the game, doesnt matter which version u play, if u liked infinite undiscovery and tri-aces past work then u will like it i believe. also the swapping disk for the 360 version isnt a big deal, i still dont understand ppl's bitching about this still. the ps3 version has a few features the 360 version doesnt have, but unless u want the japanese voices over the american ones and a few extra treasures, stick with the 360 version. i got both versions and have completed it several times over on the 360, will be completing the ps3 version over the next few weeks. if u need any help let me know , i know alot about this game.  enjoy :)
