every time you insert the game into another PS3 you spend another code? Does that mean if you go through 5 PS3s, your game won't work anymore and you have to buy a new one? :S

That's what it sounds like.

Lol, if that's what things are going to be like, then I'd rather start pirating games instead of buying them xD

I hope Versus XIII is released before this thing is implemented... if this is true :S

This make me so mad, PS3 has no chance now at getting second and there goes PS4 launch buy now. If anything this pushes me to piracy where I get it cheaper and I don't have to go through this shit.

Got to remember that this is still just a rumor. So take it with a grain of salt until it's verified.

This ^^

And it's completely pointless, having serial numbers for games hasn't done anything at all for PC gaming piracy. It won't take long for someone to write a keygen and a patch to be able to patch a 'valid' serial number onto a disc image.

I can't see Sony doing anything like this myself, I'll believe it when and only when it happens, otherwise it's complete bollocks.

It seems like the game you bought will be playable on that 5 consoles you played it before. In other ones it wouldn't work. So you buy the game and can "choose" 5 different consoles to play it, it wouldn't work on the 6 , but you can play on the first five. That's how I understood it, if this is indeed real.

No Sony, no, do not do this! I really hope it's just a rumour because this sounds terrible. While the pirates will have this cracked in no time it will be a pain in the ass for those that buys their games.

Don't go the PC way, Sony!

You got that wrong , when you use the code you will be able to run the game on that ps3 forever, even if you spend all the codes afterward.

its funny how some say that this shit will push them towards piracy when it is infact piracy's falt that Sony is looking into implementing this shit in the first place.

It seems to me that the poeple saying such shit are actually those inclinded to or were or are currently priating games. I should know, I used to priate games too during the ps1 and ps2 era and also when i had a psp. but ever since i got a ps3, all my games obviously have been legit.

news like these brings back the evil jacksparrow in me...fortunately i now have a small library of ps3 games consisting of 20 games which, when i look at stacked one on top of the other i go "OMG! its BEAUTIFUL!!" and is the only reason why i haven't gone out and jailbreaked by ps3 to kingdom come.

on topic, I dont believe that Sony will be implementing a PSN check on PS3 games as they know that there is a large portion of their userbase that do not have internet access. Think about it, Sony usually focuses on the SP experience and just adds on the online stuff as an after thought. I'm guessing the code thingy is more inline to prevent hackers and cheaters onto PSN.

Another thing, there is no way a BD disc can check if it has been registerd 5 times. as long as the game stays offline, it can be resold as many times as it likes to be resold and re-used. it just means that only 5 people get to play online and use it with PSN. used games store would just have to mark the game as no onlien or something.

Looks like the Sony's destroying it's console one step at a time... xD. I feel sad that I am laughing this much. I'm tempted to believe this is false and leave it at that

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

What did I get wrong? :P

If you go through 5 PS3s (some people here on VGChartz have had to go through 5 PS3s because of faulty hardware) then that game will not work anymore on your new, 6th, PS3... and you'll have to buy a new one (a new copy of that game).
