Forums - Gaming - FPSes: returning to dual analogue after Wiimote

It's a mix of both personal preference and what you're most used to using. That's pretty much what it boils down to.

But an analog stick is easily the least accurate inherently simply because of sensitivity and dead space movement. That being said, there are millions of players that have zero problems with the control scheme as they have adapted.

Any form of input can be a crutch if that's all you're used to using.

The controls with the Wii Remote are definitely quicker and more precise.

Try playing GoldenEye with both control schemes if you don't believe me.

GoldenEye controls are just a little bit laggy, but you can notice it.

Conduit got the award for generic shooter of the year, but control wise, there's no pointer control FPS that plays as good as it.

im the complete opposite, i really dont see the fanfare for the Wiimote. I was playing 007 and i really tried to give the Wiimote a chance. I was fine in the campaign, but once I went online, that was it. THere was all kind of problems, aiming is better but moving around sucks. I was always getting that stupid red sign and I would get stuck. I adjusted the sensitivity several times to no avail. I finally gave up and just went to classic controls for the online portion, Wiimote for campaign.

I dont mean to sound like a troll, but I think the limitations of the Wiimote dont allow it to be as good as it can be. Red Steel 2 with motion was damn near perfect. It was the only Wii FPS that I felt the movement was very fluid. Like Jarrod said now that Move is out, hopefully more competent devs can work on these motion controls and give us something really special

Yes, I got that a lot too, which was annoying - didn't have any such problem with Metroid, though

really ? Then I'm massively disappointed.

Yer I am a convert too haha.

I kno wWIi remote isn't as good as a mouse but I don't need to install the game son the WIi I just put them in they work and controls are better then dual analogue.

However I still enjoy dual analogue controls but I think I was better at FPS on N64 because of GoldenEye and spending countless hours prefecting my skills with it whilst using the C buttons.

I haven't really gone back and played a dual analogue FPS properly yet, but I would guess it just takes a bit of time to get used to again (i think this is the case in any sudden change of control scheme, but probably more pronounced with the difference between Wiimote and analogue).

@declan  its good to know it isnt just me, maybe Eurocom should have taken more time with the Wii controls, but then again they were going for the whole retro thing anyway

Give it a few days, maybe a week; and you should be just fine. I bet you'll find it better than using the wiimote.

i had the same problem with the move i play RE5 to death with it and played MAG to see what it was like then i got dead rising 2 and was like WTF is this but after an hour i got used to normal controls again
