The last two weeks have been interesting for the PS3.  Valve has confirmed that the PS3 version of Portal 2 will be playable online with the Steam version.  In addition, those same PS3 owners will receive a free version of Portal 2 via Steam and can carry all game data to the steam version.

On the other hand, hackers have 'jailbreaked' the PS3.   A recent thread from Nsanity suggests activision is even considering dropping the PSN black Ops servers.

In terms of sales and gaming news, which is the bigger story?

Hackers are overblown by the media- Portal 2 news is awesome in every way and a huge step in PC ps3 relations

Probably the portal 2 news is bigger. But i don have a question if any of you can answer it. Can the hackers only hack games that are on a peer to peer server or can they hack games on dedicated servers as well?

I would say, the Portal 2 news is a bigger story. That's just to awesome to pass up on. There will always be hackers, so any JB news, isn't to big a deal to me.

But the threats to shut down the Black Ops servers have nothing to do with hackers.  A blogger was bitching about the game's shitty netcode and and some Activision rep got pissy and started making threats he can't back up.

Hmm, i assumed "ongoing connection issues and vocal customer criticism" was over the hackers. I guess now that I think about it most gamers won't care too much about the hackers.

I don't think the specific Activision threat is the bigger news story (which was probably just an empty rant anyway) , but the hackers in general are a much bigger news story. This could change the face of PSN forever. I mean they've heavily screwed up the online portion of some of the most popular games on PS3, started to cheat the trophy system and they've not even had the hack a month yet.
