Forums - Nintendo - Got Tomb Raider for Wii, what a good game

I picked this up yesterday after reading a few reviews that said it's okay but camera and shooting controls have a few issues, after a long thought of old style polished 360 version or wiimote I went for wiimote version.

i spent the first 2 hours hating it as you try to twitch Lara round a degree or 2 to line up to the destination ledge but she spins around like a drunk Aunt doing the Hokey Kokey and having to press the C button on the nunchuck to spin the camera round, whats with that?  I can see why it's there, so you dont accidently spin round when jumping but make it an option as I personally have enough Wiimote control.

Besides that, what  a great game!! truly a hardcore game that doesn't spell the path out, makes a change that when you're stuck a mushroom doesn't tell you what top do next!! I walked around for 2 hours jumping from ledge to ledge only to return back to where i started hours ago and found I turned the wrong path somewhere and this delighted me...

Anybody played this game and have any thoughts?

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

The original Tomb Raider is one of my favorite games and Anniversary is like Tomb Raider +

On Wii it's Tomb Raider ++ O_o

I ordered it yesturday, so should get it soon. Its been getting some good reviews so thought I would give it a go.

it just makes such a nice change to have to sit and think for 5 mins at a time, where do I go next? cos the platform doesn't jump out at you...

really enjoying the cvhallenge and even though I haven't played it, makes we want ot rush out and get Wii prince of persia (my local gamestation shop has it for £13.99)

siberdib - you may hate the controls whn you first start but stick with it as after an hour or so and when the difficulty steps up (after the first boss), you'll love it - I guarantee it!!

I thought it was more Wii inexperience outshone the laziness Rol, controls were too clumsy when turning and try doing the rage mode with the nunchuck flick!! the down button is the only one for that

I have no problems with the port personally

That's good to know cos IGN said something along the lines of Laura feels very clunky compared to the smooth prince of persia control

It's a good game, the port is a bit lazy though. While the new Wii features work pretty good, the framerate issues in some areas are annoying.

So far the best PS2 game that has been ported to the Wii. Okami will change this next year.

Pretty sure all the versions have frame rate problems, including the 360 one

anyway, I got and frankly I think it's a great remake,  I love seeing the old locations that I remember from the original remade and actually looking good, kind of neat seeing the city of valcolumba actually look like a village.

@gawalls  as far as trying to line up jumps perfectly I think your trying too hard the new tomb raiders are very forgiving about lining up jumps,

Personally I'd rather have the more troublesome active combat system that the wii version has than the ludicrously simple locking system of other versions,

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my thouught about the combat system exactly, fighting the first T Rex Dinosaur boss (this is when the penny dropped) made me realise a seriously more difficult Max Payne game for the Wii would just blow my mind.

I'm talking about walking into a warehouse thats crowded like Tokyo and using bullet time to take them out... Mmmmmm

I stood in my local video game store for several minutes debating which version of "Anniversary" I was going to buy: The 360 disc/ Wii Edition/ 360 download for Tomb Raider Legend. The general lack of info on this PS2 port was astounding. I wound up buying the 360 disc. Hi-res graphics managed to beat new game-play mechanics......this time.
