Everything is leaking

apparently, the key was known by a select few individuals since at least the summer of 2009, but was not public knowledge until now.

but wait, "how can you be sure it's been known that long?" is your next question, right?

well, someone registered the common key as a .com domain in september 2009.

from what i understand, the common key allows decrypting of data, but not encrypting so it's not that useful to end users.

Do we really need another 3DS cracked joke/hoax already?

Actually, I don't think it means much at all, since:

• It isn't that useful for homebrew
• Playing pirated games still means special hardware that has everything needed to launch games built into it

The DS is already pretty much open so things aren't going to change much on the DS front.  It doesn't get firmware updates and there's no network to ban you from so neither of those are a worry like they are with the PS3 and 360.  I don't think there's even a significant danger of bricking your DS.

It will be if it's AWWWWWW and not awww :P
