I doubt colour screens would have helped the Virtua Boy. It's probably the only console in history, which can actually cause medical problems. I mean, eye strain, vision damage, and neck pain? That was crazy. Still no matter how bad the thing was Mr Yokoi has my undying respect for Metroid. There's all the small matter of his taking a young Shigeru Miyamoto under his wing as well...

Every time someone mentions the Virtual-boy, an angel gets his wings. Then it tears out it's own eyeballs! Tragic, really.

The eye strain and vision damage was in large thanks to the vector art(red lines) Gunpei Yokoi wanted full color screens but they'd have costed a good deal more at the time. I have to think if it had color and not just red vectors it may have done okay but we'll never know now. Edit: Also what about Yokois respect for the Gameboy? or Hell Game & Watch you know basically spawning all handheld gaming as we know it...
