This is not a joke thread.
Rockstar is putting Bully on the Wii, which is pretty much GTA without the Theft and Auto. So it IS likely, if not certain, that a GTA game will be put on the Wii. It could be a port of a past game, it could be a downgraded port of GTA4 (if they want to do it, they will do it), or it could be an whole new game for the Wii.
This thread is about discussing what GTA games could, if any, show up on the Wii. What would it be like, and if you could plant thoughts in the head of Rockstar's people, what would you add in the games.
Me, I hope it's an original game, in Tokyo, playing it as though most anime tropes are real there, such as the main character being a magical girl (just not a righteous one), and ALL vehicles have a mech mode.
Plus I would allow gamepad options, just for those who prefer it. Now don't give me any guff about how the Gamecube pad has too few buttons. It has exactly as many as the PSP, AND it has a second analog stick.
But first, the way I would map the Classic Controller would be as much like the PS2 setup as I can, with the face buttons just the same, the outer shoulder buttons just like L1 and R1, and the inner shoulder buttons just like L2 and R2. I would have the d-pad substitute for the lack of L3 and R3, with up and down respectively (left and right would control the radio). Yet for skipping parts on missions, you pressed up on the PS2 games. Here, you would press up and minus at the same time.
As for the GC, it would be mostly the same, just with Z acting for changing views, and adjusting for the lack of L2 and R2. Well when on foot, you'd just use left and right on the d-pad to switch weapons and targets. In a vehicle, the click funtions of the shoulder buttons would come into play. Press a button partway down for the L1/R1 funtions, and all the way for the L2/R2 functions. You would lose the occasional use of some at the same time, such as certain flying functions, or when doing a handbrake turn when looking right (if you could even turn properly when not looking ahead). If those are vital to you, just use the Classic Controller. Yet with this, you would have rumble (as long as it's not the Wavebird).
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
