I could go on a rant calling out those who hyped Gran Turismo 5, but my honor prevents me from doing so. Instead, it's measly 500k in December 2010 will just make me chuckle smugly at how right many others and I, who tried to temper the Gran Turismo 5 hype train, were. If you cannot top 1 million in December, then those legs must be pretty damn short.

Congratulations to Nintendo and Microsoft, your hard work paid off and both of you deserve all the praise and accolades you are getting. The detraction is just from those who wanted you to fail, pay the haterade no attention because trying to reason with haters is like trying to reason with an emotionally distraught child.

R.I.P. Sony Move, you like Sega and Atari are showing us how vain appealing to the "core" is. Instead of focusing on the family, you are ignorantly pandered to a niche minority and it will be the death of you. I hope your demise comes quick because no one or platform deserves a slow, pathetic death with spectators whispering "I told ya so."

That is pretty impressive for both of them It seems both  Dance Central and udraw are undertracked then.

1.9 million for the Xbox is very impressive It's funny how the only people who seem dissapointed by that number are the Vgchartz community. It's their best month ever which I do not understand how that translates to dissapointing.

what i think is funny read the original post it says dance central for ms... believe it was harmonix who did central wasnt it?

Nintendo sold almost 4 million Wiis in Dec alone last year on the power of a game. Now with just games they have won the month. With enough to make up for the year. Making them the best selling console for the year. Also if Kinect software is really selling so well. Why are they not charting in the NPD. It seems to me people would rather play Wii casual games. Just Dance and Michael Jackson.

See this is the thing apparently Dance Central and Kinect Sports did in the single console charts or something apparently.

Perception and Facts are too different things. The Perception of Microsoft and Kinect is that they are turning the tide. The facts are they haven't gain any ground. At least here in the US gaming Market!

Xbox360 selling their highest ever December and thus creating shortages would disagree with this logic

Also my broke my jaw laughing at GT5 numbers in the US. Once again Sony's Savor doesn't deliver! Maybe Heroes on the Move will do it! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys noticed that WoW: Cataclysm (and PC games in general) showed up at NPD's December figures. Up until now, PC games sales were put aside by NPD, so why the sudden change? It's probably because NPD is preparing to release Industry Reports that include digital revenue, and because of that they can't ignore PC anymore.

But NPD is deliberately using the PC sales to make the Industry Software sales look better. Just look at how NPD changed the way they reported the figures:

2008 SW Revenue - $10.96bln (not including PC's $701mln)
2010 SW Revenue - $10.1bln, with PC Revenue already included

Now, see how they didn't include the PC revenue for 2008, but did the opposite for last year? In truth here's how the real figures are:

2008 SW Revenue - $10.96bln ( $11.67bln including PC's $701mln)
2010 SW Revenue - $9.55bln ($10.1bln including PC's ~554mln)

Overall Retail revenue looks far worse when it comes to single digits (below $10bln). Console sales have lost $1.4bln (over 13%) on retail in the past 2 years

I never hungered or asked for attention like that doofus in high school who dyed his hair purple and had a pig ring in his nose. What I wanted to be perceived as was innocuous, polite and when my turn came to speak I wanted to floor them with my words. However, what I want to be and what I am perceived to be are two very different things. I will make peace with it, move on, and contribute.

But while undoubtedly very proud of their favourite game, GT5 fans on average count amongst them a lot less trolls than many others, attacking GT5 to piss them all off due to the few trolls is just like attacking Halo and all its fans just to hit a troll minority amongst them.

Hey, I have Gears of War 3 in my sights (really bad term to use right now in the US due to Congresswoman Gabby Giffords being shot in the head). I own both Gears of War and Gears of War 2. Needless to say, I was displeased with Gears of War 2 and once the hype train for Gears 3 starts, I will be that dumb hobo in the middle of the tracks trying to stop it. Well, more futile than "dumb."

Series like Gran Turismo and Halo are extremely hard to troll because the past games have set the bar in great racing or FPS fundamentals. Now, Call of Duty 2k"fill in the year" is almost too easy to troll as anyone who is not a fan of it will not defend it with all their wit.

Oh well, I guess I'm quite lucky it won't hit me so much, as I'm not anymore as much a fan of the genre as in the past, but Black Ops looks like it will become so huge to seriously hurt anybody wishing to hype any other FPS. But despite marginally hit by BO's overwhelming presence, I already fear hype and high expectations will make me at least partially disappointed by Duke Nukem Forever, and this pisses me off a lot...
