Forums - Microsoft - MS: Windows Phone 7 is our handheld

Well TBH there's only so much you can do gaming wise with just a simple touch screen....for me to be considered an actual gaming handheld like the DS is if it has d-pads and buttons that you can press too.

But anyways i just bought me a windows 7 phone this night and i'm lovin it!

Hella expensive bill per month but its worth it IMO.

If Zelda can work with pure touch screen controls, most games can as well.  I had serious issues with Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, but after a tolerable acclimation period the controls ceased being one of them.

WP7 is great...it doesn't blow android or iOS out of the water, but it does compete and compare favorably.  I'm looking forward to the improvements and iterative changes to the phone, with the next updates this year.  The next WP and Win 8 are going to be pretty sharp, imho.

Just competing is not enough when you are late to market.  WP7 will be the next Zune, irrelevant.

With apologes to pocket god, of which I know nothing, and to the "no platform criticism" rule of VGChartz, you're going to have to do a lot better than Pac Man in order to convince me that this is a legit portable gaming platform.

Give it 2 years and WP7 (or likely WP8 by then) will have the best gaming environment of all of the smartphones.

And for those that read into this that MS plans for this to directly challenged 3DS and PSP2, then you read wrong.  They're basically saying this is the closest they'll come a portable gaming device.  That's all.

I love my Windows Phone 7...LG Optimus 7. Its much more snappy than Blackberry bold and Nokia e71 which I had before.

Never had android or Iphone but most reviews state that it competes with those phones very well. Also, live updating tile homescreen is awesome..makes iphone and Android layout look a little messy and dated to me.

But as a mobile gaming platform? I don't know about that... Swipy Man and Impossible shoota are fun games, as is Fruit Ninja, but there are no AAA blockbusters on the phone yet for it to be considered as a gaming platform.

I may be upgrading... the trophy is driving me nuts, too little memory and freezing. Could be faulty phone though

Quoted to embarrass you in two years time when the iphone still has a much much stronger gaming environment than the WPX one.

Unfortunately, touch screen doesn't make for the best handheld gaming experience.

Anyway, MS is already huge in the portable gaming scene. Most laptops run Windows! Soon we'll have tablets running Windows as well.

Now all MS needs to do is start making games for Windows.

except no royalties are collected for pc games, and actually, microsoft pays people to put their "games for windows" logo on the box lol.

How was your post helpful? What you replied has NOTHING to do with what puggsly wrote.

Thank you for the irrelevant information.

I said MS needs to make games for Windows. Hence, they would collect the money from their software sold. However, I'm sure they get a piece of games sold on GFW.

MS pays them to make GFW a requirement because they are marketing the GFW software and marketplace. Its a simple way to make GFW relevant. I doubt MS pays them much, we're talking PC games here. People steal those in massive numbers.
