Forums - Nintendo - Dead Space Extraction players.

So what do you guys think about Dead Space Extraction?  Is it really worth a purchase?  I do love survival/horror, but I'm more into the psychological end (Silent Hill & Siren) than the surprise/blood and guts end (Classic Resident Evil).  Been playing Dead space, the original.  Nice game, but I wonder if Dead Space 2 Collector's Edition PS3 version will be worth the price of admission ($80) because it also comes with Dead Space Extraction in HD.  Thoughts, anyone?  Thanks.

Doesn't the standard edition come with DS:E as well? All the PS3 copies are "Limited Edition" similar to what Dante's Inferno released to.

The Standard Edition just comes with the demo for Extraction.

That's stupid.

What's Dead Space Extraction? A bridging game á la Dead Rising 1.5 or it's a cartoon game?

I couldn't finish it because of a game-breaking bug. So had to watch the rest of the game on youtube and swear to myself never to buy an EA wii game again.

It is a rail shooter like the Resident Evil Wii games. Like another guy said, you will feel like you got ripped off. The story is interesting, but gets boring, and the gameplay is repetitive. The Zombies-like game mode is good. Overall, I would say 7.5. You should probably wait for the price to drop again.

I was kinda thinking of the same thing as well.  If we were to assume that DSE HD PS3 is only in the Limited Edition, how else can you get it AFTER buying the standard edition?  Are you expected to buy the Limited Edition as well?

Well, DSE doesn't fall into either category. You watch the characters talk for a while and then you kill some necromorphs. On a few occasions you solve some easy "puzzles" to open a door or activate something and that's it.

If you are one of those people who always thought that gameplay shouldn't get in the way of telling a story, then by all means go for this game. Otherwise you will probably feel ripped off having paid an additional $20.

Thanks to you and IamAwsome for the advice.  I think I might steer away from the PS3 Limited Edition and just wait for a price drop for Dead Space 2.  At least that's what I'm leaning towards.

I Own the game and played it to completion. $20 is the most I would consider spending on this game, with $15 seeming more reasonable as that is the number of hours I got out of it. Granted I played through it quite slowly and repeated levels a few times, and also went through the included "flash-comics" to really get the most out of it, you could probably speed through the whole thing in 5-6 hours and see everything there is to see..

While enjoyable, mostly it just made me think how awesome a RE4 type game set in the Dead Space universe would have been on the Wii... I still think EA could have cleaned up on that kind of project seeing as Capcom didn't follow through on the success of RE4...

I don't know what else you are getting for $80 (!!) but you are welcome to factor that into the decision.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

I enjoyed it on the Wii.  The story really is first rate, and for a rail shooter, gameplay is top notch.  You could read Wii reviews and go from there.

I paid 30 Canadian, and felt it was a good value.
