I think the Wii and 360 were undertracked while PS3 was overtracked, all over the region of 100k each.

Thanks for answering that for me, but it was actually even more for the 360.

I do agree though that it looks like this time around the Wii is somewhat overtracked, based on Nintendo's own press release. But the other consoles could be as well.

Well it's certainly possible, but keep in mind that last December they said they sold over 3 million, and NPD had them at 3.8 million...

Well it's certainly possible, but keep in mind that last December they said they sold over 3 million, and NPD had them at 3.8 million...


So Wi could be about 2.8M meaning it's overtracked by only 300K.

Interesting that the greatest discrepency is Wii. I had wondered a little about the veracity of the Wii sales and here we go with two more estimates which have the Wii lower than ours. This isn't anything substantial but something worth noting as we wait for the NPD results to come in.

One thing I do know is that every time the sales fall off the regular pattern there are often quite large short term adjustments. I.E. big promotions, games, and especially price cuts and bundle changes like with Kinect and Move for instance.

One question: Were there any adjustments in November when we undertracked the Wii? Same with December 2009.

Wii will be the best selling home console in the December NPD   , that's obvious. I don't understand why some people say that the 360 will beat the wii (hell there was even a small shortage of 360s in the first 3 weeks of December) . I believe the difference will be quite big in wii's favour. Now in January things will probably change again...

Interesting, if Wii and 360 are within 150k this month, 360 can take the U.S Year

Anyway the top estimate Wii could possibly be is 3.290k and we have it only 130k below that, so I think it's kinda obvious Wii will have been overtracked if only a little, or as much as 850k.

Not sure why PS3 is doing as high as it is.
