I wouldn't expect Move support here. Although it would make sense, I can't see it happening. As for combat, what I hear so far sounds perfect for survival horror: weapons break and there is no inventory. It's going to be much more atmospheric than any of SH2's predecessors, as well as psychologically driven (very much like SH2 & The Room). |
Move probably an outside chance, although it would suit the game very, very well. I understand they may be making it better to knock down an enemy and run than actually try and defeat them which sounds good.
For me survivar horror titles work best when you feel vulnerable and always escaping/being pushed forward relentlessly by events.
They're saying all the right things, and the water aspect and new areas sound interesting too.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
Not really sure what to expect since the dev team is more experienced at FPS games and the like, they came from the 2K Ukraine team, and as far as I know this is their first horror romp, buuut I like some of the ideas. Weapons that break so fighting isn't a great option, music is going to make or break it for me, as the sound sets the mood in Silent Hill, and without the best composer in video games it might not live up to the standards of the series.
Honestly I want another Shattered Memories type Silent Hill from Climax, just add free roaming the town, being chased by monsters can happen at any time, and some monsters that can appear in front of you while you're running so you have to do some sort of dodge maneuver to A keep you on your toes and B keep you from constantly looking behind you, just added sense of urgency and that would make it the perfect horror game to me.
I'm so glad Shattered Memories outsold Homecoming, hopefully that means that type of Silent Hill can continue.

I hope this turns out good. If it doesn't then please for the of ra just kill the series, just kill it.
| Reasonable said: Cautiously optimistic. Want full Move support for torch, character movement and combat - swing that board and feel the impact! Want combat to be minimal to the experience. Want genuine chilly atmosphere and sense of crushing foreboding with no hope for escape. Want them to lose the disolving reality approach from the movie... still doesn't feel right for me. Want new monsters/bosses specific to the character a'la Silent Hill 2 and nothing from previous titles. Want fiendish puzzles. Want ambiguity and no attempt to explain stuff beyond the hints and suggestions of Silent Hill 2. Do not want them to try and ramp up combat to appeal to Western tastes - never works, look at Alan Wake. Titles like these are not about combat and victory mechanics prevelant in traditional combat gameplay. You should never feel you are defeating foes and winning, rather than you are escaping by the skin of your teeth to have a little more time to try and unravel what's going on. We'll see. |
Very, very true, though I'm not going to get my hopes up after all the disappointments that came after SH4.
But did you know that there's an unannounced horror Move game? It involves the use of a flashlight.

Didn't like Homecoming or Origins. Shattered Memories was okay.

I'm really hungry for an HD horror thriller.
I was keeping an eye on 8 so this really isn't news to me since it's basically the same game.

I actually liked it as much as I did 3. But overall, the first one is my favorite just due to the atmosphere and music...seriously, they nailed it.
But 2 has the better story, gameplay, and detail.
