looks like ull have to send it off to Nintendo

Already did, but FedEx doesn't pick up until Monday. These things always happen at times like this (a friday night), like chipping a tooth on Christmas Eve when no-one will be around to fix it till the 2nd or something

So the system is still in your possesion or FedEx already has it?

If the former, at least there are some great WiiWare games that might be worth the download.

I left it with the local shipping company (hope they don't get robbed, but i'm not worried), though i do have two WiiWare games i got through Secret Santa that i haven't had a chance to touch yet. I was waiting till i finished DKCR

I actually think mine is on its way out too.  It's having trouble reading Metroid: Other M.  No other disc is having a problem though.

The M:OM disc is fine, so I dunno.  Maybe it just doesn't want me to play that particular game.

Sounds like a dual-layer disc problem. SSBB and MP Trilogy shouldn't work either, if MOM doesn't. Those are the only three games that use a dual-layer disc. You can try out the official Wii lens cleaning kit from Nintendo which costs around $10. It worked for me, but a couple of weeks later my disc drive went kaputt altogether and couldn't read any discs anymore (that wasn't the fault of the cleaning kit though).

I was thinking that too.  Haven't booted up either SSBB or MPT in a long while.  I'll grab that lens cleaning kit.  Thanks.

that sucks, dont know what to tell you. Outside of a couple of games freezing once in awhile my Wii has no problems. but its not a launch console either

According to wikipedia, if the problem you're experiencing is a dual-layer disc error Nintendo has started to offer free repairs due to it being a failure in their manufacturing process which lead to lens contamination.

Nah. Started with DKCR, which is probably a quite small game. Ironically the game i "tested" to make sure it wasn't DKCR was Brawl, which is  dual-layer, but it's a universal problem

I sometimes have the same problem with Metroid: Other M as Kenology.  I thought that it was the dual layered disc problem as well.  I tried popping in Brawl, and it worked the first time.  It's really weird.  Other M just doesn't seem to want to read sometimes, while Brawl still works every time.  I've got Metroid Prime Trilogy too, and I haven't had a problem with that yet either.
