Forums - Sales - How Much Do Ya'll Think The Consoles Will Be Priced At Before 2011 Ends?

Ive been reading alot of posts lately things like wait till PS3 gets a price cut again, 360 will sell more in 2011 than in 2010, and Wiis not dead its just getting started.  This leads me to believe that alot of posters believe that there will be console price cuts this year and that they will even change things dramatically.

Post what you think the consoles will be priced at before this year ends you can even post if you think that accessories like move and kenict will be cut in price

I'll go first i believe that

Wii $150 down form $200

360 $150 and $250 down from $200 and $300 *(possible arcade gets axed only one sku with HDD at $200)

PS3 $250 down from $300 *(possible for $200)

360 kinect bundle $250 and $350 down from $300 and $400 *(if only one console at $200 than $300 is possible)

PS3 move bundle $350 down form $400 *(possible for $300 to be double the Wii cost like last year)

i dont believe that the move and kenict stand alones will be getting a price cut

Agree on system prices, but differ on motion controls.   Move will see gradual sales drop until just after mid year when Sony drops the price to get it "Moving" again.  Microsoft will work with the retailers to create value added packages(gift cards and or bundles) to keep their price point through the year on th Kinect.

360                  $150

Wii                   $150

PS3                  $199(along with real PS3 SLIM)

Kinect             $99

Move              $69

Initially, I'd thought that the Wii would cut 50 bucks in early '11, but now I don't think it'll occur at all -- they could easily afford to trim 125 bucks or so off the Wii at the moment, but I've recently been led to believe that they won't soon. They may go for a single massive cut later on, though.

Whether or not the PS3 cuts price depends on MS, really. Sony won't risk going red again for a little market share for no reason. Unless 360 cuts significantly (at least 75 bucks), Sony'll maintain the PS3's price.

A 360 cut is pretty much guaranteed I'd say. They can surely afford to so I expect a cut of at least 50 bucks for both models.

360 4GB - $99-149
360 250GB - $199-249
360/Kinect 4GB - $149-199
360/Kinect 250GB - $249-299

Kinect - $99

PS3 160GB - $249
PS3 320GB - $299
PS3/Move 160GB - $299
PS3/Move 320GB - $349

Move - $70

Wii - $149

Wii: $130 because it will struggle in the summer

PS3: $250 with PS3 slim 2.0

360 the same

Wii - $150, sales will end up down YoY over the first 10 months and with Nintendo throwing most there advertising and 1st party games behind the 3DS Nintendo will do a holiday price cut.

PS3 - $250 / $300(move bundle) - SONY will drop the price of there PS3 hardware by $50 and the move bundle will see a $100 price drop in order to grab consumers attention. This situation should also see a hardware revision, though it will probably be internal and not be the "PS3 SLIM" everyone is expecting.

360 - $199 / $299(250gb with kinect) - Microsoft will cut the price of its standalone 360 and the 4gb kinect bundle will become a 250gb kinect bundle with the 4gb console being discontinued. Kinect may also see a price drop to $99 for the holidays depending on kinect sales, move sales and depending on how long until Micosoft's 'next-box'.

i think the wii will be down to $150 when it stalls relative to the HD consoles in the summer months.

ps3 will be down to $250, maybe $200 if it also has a newer slim model.

MS will drop the 360 another $50 only if kinect fails to keep the 360 up YoY after the holidays.

edit: unrelated prediction but i think sony will announce expected shipments of 17M for next fiscal year.

Your prices are about right. Only thing you missed were the individual MOVE and Kinect systems.

360 4GB - $150
360 250GB - $250
360/Kinect 4GB - $200
360/Kinect 250GB - $300

Kinect - $99

PS3 160GB - $250
PS3 320GB - $300
PS3/Move 160GB - $300
PS3/Move 320GB - $350

Move - $79

Wii - $150

Only thing is Microsoft will probably announce their price cut at the E3 and it might happen immediately. If not, it'll happen in Sept. Sony probably won't announce their price drop until October because they will be spending a lot of time on PSP2, PSPhone and their exclusives. Sony is making money on the PS3 Slim, so the longer the delay of a price cut, the more profit they will make. Nintendo will annouice their price cut either at the E3 or TGS.
