If you mean with Battle screen

= Character runs on a field, the screen dissapears and you see your character standing their with a enemy.

Then FFI till FFX use this.

FFXII changed that and I am pretty sure that FFXIII, FFXIII versus will use no battle screen.

so now is it like you walk up to someone and just hit them???? Third Person Mode?

do you still have to like select "attack" and watch them attack for you... 

versus will most likely be real time, while FF is battle screen, and you select an attack and they do it. Kinda like turn based but more active and real.

FOr an attack you have a battle screen and you select moves, its how jrpgs work.

So whats the difference between Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasty Versus XIII?

FF13 is coming out sooner

FF13versus is developed by the Kingdom Hearts team

FF13 is a RPG, and FF13versus is supposed to be an action RPG

Both has different characters, but set in the same universe (the FF13 universe, duh) 

FF13 stars a female, and FF13versus stars a male apparently

FF13 is coming out for PS3 and FF13versus is Sega Dreamcast exclusive.... 

Watched that retrospective a while back and it's a great look back at the whole series.

I still dont get it, so they are both totally different games? Why not just make one FF14? surely this would cause some consumer confusion. It reminds me of the angry nintendo nerds, chronlogically confused.

They are a series of single player Japanese Role Playing Games. They are made my Square Enix. None of the main numbered (Final Fantasy 1,2,3, etc.) Final Fantasy's have been sequels excluding Final Fantasy 10 and Final Fantasy 10-2. They are the popular and critically claimed RPG series and the world.

Square has annouced Fabula Nova Crystallis. It a series of game relating to one world. They will be part of the Final Fantasy XIII name. The main XIII and Versus XIII are both for PS3.

Final Fantasy Agito XIII is for cell phones. Final Fantasy Haerisis XIII is rumored for the DS, but no platform has been annouced.

These two games are very highly anticipated even though there are haters like twestern (I know you love FF6. Im just talking about the newer ones).

If you have an PS2 or PS3, I reccomend picking Final Fantasy 10 and seeing what you think. It was one of my favorites. You can get for only $20. However is you prefer a more MMO battle system; I reccomend Final Fantasy 12.

It's my favorite series! Give it a run.
