Forums - Sony - What does Ps3 need?

Sony has to make PS3 cool. 

Xbox is cool in America and thats its biggest selling factor. People think Xbox Live is cool. Halo and Gears are "cool". 

Sony needs to stop marketing PS3 as the best console, and just talk about how cool it is. 

Next, market the shit out of big games. Uncharted's, GT's, Killzone's, Infamous', these should all get 2 week to month leads on marketing. They should be on the local news the day they launch. They have to get to the point were people that have no interest in gaming are forced to know that "today some game came out". That is how it is when a new Nintendo or MS game comes out, and that drives the sales like crazy on those platforms.



Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

What part of America do you live in? The PS3 is the cool brand out in LA. I guess it must be different in different parts of the country.

The problem is simply the US market. the PS3 dosent need a price cut anywhere else. i dont live in the US so i dont know if the PS3 is cool or not. but it is selling units every week. so i think the problem is that Xbox is more popular. theres no real reason it should be, because their not disimmilar from each other, but for some reason the PS3 is not as popular as the 360 in the US. and i'm not sure if its to do with being cool or not??

Why is the answer to everything always a price cut? Its like noone expects that Sony can actually do anything to raise the appeal of the console without first cutting the price. A lot of people seem to be acting like teens as if the console is already unaffordable when the target market is mainly the 18-35 range who have jobs and an income. The Xbox 360 average selling price was $269

The PS3 is $299 for its main SKU

The PS3 ASP was something like $315

that there's is a 199 sku on the market and 299 has never ever ever ever in the history of ever have been a mass market price.

Which is irrelevant if the $299 SKU outsells it 2:1 which also outsells the PS3.

so your gonna completely ignore the fact that there is a MUCH cheaper price to the 360, and what me to believe that the mass market that 360 capitalized on over the holiday did the same, if so then don't respond to this post as we are gonna have to agree to disagree. Sorry

It doesn't matter if the 360 was available for $199 or not. If you dropped the Arcade as a SKU entirely the 360 still outsold the PS3 with the $299 SKUs alone. You can't say that the PS3 is too expensive when you have a console which feature wise has even less going for it which is outselling the PS3 at a like for like price.

Sony is on the right track with games games and more games in 2011. PSN needs to have cheaper minis, Angry Birds should not be 3.99 it should have stayed .99 like it is on Iphone. PSN  also needs better  downloadable titles, 360 had its best year last year  and its live games were a big reason. Cross game chat and the inclusion of headsets would be nice. A Game / Movie bundle would rock. An Infamous/ Underworld bundle or a family friendly LBP / The Karate Kid bundle. 



It just needs to drop to $199
