Anyway, I'd say GT5's relative flop in Japan has silenced a lot of it's cheerleaders in the JP sales threads.  It has pretty much no hope of ever passing a million in Japan now, it's Mingol 5 all over again, which is pretty much what I've been saying would happen the past year.

Dude, please, go to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and look first week sales and LT sales in Japan, then come back, you may understand something.

lol, GT5P sold 108k 1st week and 237k ltd.  Then when they gave away Spec III free in bundles, that "sold" an additional 295k.

Time to face reality, GT5 isn't hitting a million.  It'll be lucky if it even hits 750k at the rate it's going.  That's pretty plainly understandable...

I never said it'll reach 1M, but that it'll have legs. :) Oh and 750k is a flop?

I never said it wouldn't have legs, just that it'll never reach a million.  Dude. ;)

And yeah, for Gran Turismo, 750k would be a relative flop for the series.  And GT5 might not even hit that...

When over 500k in Japan became a FLOP??? I missed anything.

There was 17.5m PS2 in Japan when GT4 came out, so with 1/3 of the console and 1/2 of the sales I think it's not bad. I know userbase is not really relevant but it is in Japan, it's a relatively small market with most of the games being frontloaded.

lol, prelaunch whenever anyone posted userbase arguments against GT5 doing as well as GT4, GT cheerleaders would always counter with the PS2 installed base when GT3 launched.  So... how about that?
