Forums - Gaming - Rumor: Monster Hunter likely heading to another platform, 3DS mentioned!

Well, Capcom would be crazy for not trying! I think it would be a good choice if they want to further expand the franchise in the west as well.

I don't think they will abandon the PSP(2) though, unless it tanks or something.

I hope so, they seem like a perfect match. 3DS will be more comfortable to play on then the badly designed PSP. I get hand aches if I pay Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for too long. =/ Plus seeing the huge monsters in 3D would be awesome.

I would love this to be true, I'm loving MHP3rd atm but it would be so much better playing it in 3D.

I don't see how it would profit the franchise in any way. It would be more wise to wait for the PSP2 and make it a launch title or something. It would score big. Fans of the franchise are on the PSP and the chances of them getting a PSP2 is higher than a 3DS.

Disagree. In my mind the only thing keeping it off DS in the first place was that DS was significantly weaker than the PS2. With 3DS being stronger than PS2 and likely in the ballpark of all existing Monster Hunter games, meaning asset sharing ahoy, there's no reason to keep it off the 3DS, which will be bought in droves in Japan either way, will likely be bought more in the West, where Nintendo has proven to be an apt partner

Hell, i'd say its likely that Monster Hunter 4 straight-up will go to the 3DS, and the portable and home console franchises become one.

We won't see Monster Hunter 4 anytime soon and by the time it comes out, the PSP2 will most likely be out. The PSP2 is said to be as strong as the PS3.

I hope you don't actually believe that...

Well that's what I've heard. And yes I don't have that much difficulty to believe it.

The PS2 came out in 2000 and the PSP in 2004. The PSP can reproduce graphics from the PS2.

The PS3 came out in 2006 and the PSP2 will come out in 2011 (or more).

Can't wait to play Monster Hunter on my 3DS.

Agreed, and some people in this thread made me have a nice laugh.

Here's what happened to me as I was reading this thread:

I was reading some posts.

Then something about PSP2 and MH being smarter.

Then I blacked out from rage.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

Itsudatte itsudatte itsudatte

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

I will never leave you

While I don't doubt that Monster Hunter will come to the 3DS I think what he was really saying was its time to move on to the PSP2, It just sounded to me like he was hinting at the PSP2.

Unless the PSP2 has something drastic to offer the series (or just games in general) I don't see how having MH on the 3DS would be a bad move. I've said before that the PSP2 can't really offer anything that the 3DS DOESN'T have except for better graphical power. If MH moves to the 3DS, kiss Sony's handheld market share good-bye

I dont get it. Why are people being fans of the handhelds and not the games specifically. PSP MH games sold well because so many MH games were released on the platform. The fans will go where the games go. I don't care much for the device itself as long as the design doesn't SUCK.
